Finished rebuilding a #FreeCAD model in #OpenSCAD to learn the ins and outs, only to find out that I can't fillet or chamfer my resulting object without some absolutely *ridiculous* tomfoolery involving offset hacks and other nonsense. Very disappointing.

Just found @OpenSCAD@floss.social and they are on the fediverse too! What a powerful piece of software, I'm already printing my first design. #3dprinting #openscad

I'm having a personal war against my toilet flush. It's a cheap plastic device but I'm determined not to replace it. Just because I'm an angry old man. And because the planet is dying. I've already recreated one broken part in #OpenScad and replace it with a #3dprint , now had another battle, turned out it's just scale. But also it's not easy to put it back together so I was taking it apart over and over because ofc there's no manual for this piece of crap. I hope one day I'll replace it with 3d printed replacements like a ship of Theseus. And I'll publish all the parts as some kind of OpenFlush project. It won't be good because the original one is just a crappy cheap plastic device, absolutely not worth keeping. But I'm just stubborn, you know.

Finally looking to design something anew rather than simply printing others' designs with my Creality K1C. Facing some analysis paralysis with choice of modeling program so I thought I'd put up a poll. (pls boost) My preference would be to stick with one tool for simple designs and for something potentially more complex later, which is why I'm not specifying the project for the purpose of this poll. I am prepared for some pain, though I'd like to limit the amount of plastic wasted during prototyping. I do have calipers so at least I can get accurate measurements :) #freecad #openscad #cad #printing

OK, that works... Quite impressed with @jlc3dp@bird.makeup The PCB with LEDs to go inside is expected tomorrow. Update: Someone asked me if this image was real, not AI, or proof of concept: FFS, it is a real photograph I took of a real 3D print! And yes, I am mastodon only now, so bloody well boost 🙂 thanks. Yes, thank you. P.S. never expected "bloody well boost" to work. Extra cool. Thanks all. #stargate #openscad #stl
