The Rothbury Estate is an incredible opportunity for our Wildlife Trust to secure land for wildlife, in the UK, which is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. But #Northumberland here in the north east is a great location and perfect site for them to protect and boost it (more info on their site). This month, donations will be doubled via this campaign: https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/appeals/rothbury-estate-match-appeal-august-2026 #wildlife #donation

I thought I’d planned a route that avoided the worst of the bracken. I was wrong #Walking #northumberland

I took the bike out for a spin today after its service. It’s running really well, the gear changes are much smoother, and the annoying rattle has been eliminated. Nice afternoon for it. #Cycling #BikeTooter #northumberland

From a crag overlooking the valley a belaying climber gets to look out over an unfolding temperature inversion in the valley below and a stunning sunset. Ravensheugh Crag, Northumberland. #Northumberland #Sunset #Climate #Weather #Landscape #Photography

Sheep waiting for the party to start at Barrowburn village hall. I didn’t have the heart to tell them it’s not been used for years. #northumberland

A very warm walk up to Windy Gyle today. I had the summit to myself. #Walking #northumberland

I went on a guided walk yesterday up to The Cheviot via Hen Hole. The weather was foul, but despite appearances, a good time was had by all. #Walking #northumberland

Och, it's fiendish, the only significant way to cut down distance and climbing is to go Whitley Bay - Morpeth - Kielder and cut out the first drinks stop at Elsdon, saves 12km & 300m. Might be a good idea anyway because of all the excitement at the start and the "relay" riders who'll be going faster. Any locals please advise - any good reasons to go up to Elsdon if you were riding from Whitley Bay to Kielder? Later on it pays to stick to the route, it's slightly shorter via Sanquhar but off route for the last 80k sounds like a recipe for no support. #cycling #Newcastle #Morpeth #Northumberland

Yesterday it was snowdrops in a Co Durham coastal dene, today in the 'Secret Garden' at Wallington Hall, Northumberland, it was crocuses. This annual display of around 100,000 crocuses covers some 3,500 square metres in this popular National Trust property garden. They were planted just a few years back across a two-week period by some 20 volunteers. It really is a breath-taking feast for the eyes! #england #northumberland #nationaltrust #crocuses #spring #garden #photography
