Palantir are ripping off the NHS: Using revised estimates on the benefits to the NHS of Palantir's software (which you recall NHSE misrepresented) the benefits are lower than the (now revised & higher) costs of deploying the technology. In other words the use of Palantir's software imposes a cost on the health service (costs are now projected at over £1bn, while projected benefits have fallen to less that £900m) leaving a clear logic for ending the contract! #Palantir #NHS #politics h/t FT

More cuts to NHS staff & services, this time around mental health provision in East London... this is what happens when austerity meet budgeting requirements to 'balance the books'. Its just one more example of the tendency posted about over the weekend to see the health services as a cost to be controlled, rather than to see good health contributing to the value of the UK economy. #NHS #MentalHealth #politics https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/aug/03/nhs-mental-health-trust-plans-25m-in-cuts-to-jobs-and-services

Q: Is Palantir the most evil f*cking company in the world? Answers on a postcard! “The NHS and Palantir: Why Britain Is Being Urged to End the Data Platform Deal” by ANA VRAČAR in Savage Minds on Substack @uk_politics “Health organisations are urging the British government to use an exit clause in its contract with tech firm Palantir and shift from its Federated Data Platform (FDP) in the National Health Service (NHS) in early 2027. Recent reports by Medact, Just Treatment, and other groups argue that Palantir’s system brings limited benefits at the cost of patient trust and data security—not to mention millions of pounds” https://open.substack.com/pub/savageminds/p/the-nhs-and-palantir #Press #SocialMedia #UK #NHS #Palantir #FDP #Contract #Opposition #Thiel #Karp #Israel #PalestinianGenocide #Gaza #PublicInterest #Exit #DataSovereignty

NHS Data Privacy: Opt outs I find it fascinating that while the NHS Digital has automatically opted us IN to share all our medical data with the likes of Palantir, to opt OUT requires manual paper forms, signed, to your GP clinic. These: 1 - To prevent data consolidation with NHS Digital from all sources You can opt out of either: a) sharing Summary Care Record additional information (SCRai) b) even having an SCR https://digital.nhs.uk/services/summary-care-records-scr/scr-patient-preference-form 2 - To prevent data sharing by the primary source, your GP clinic, register a "Type 1 Opt Out" with them (This should be done in ADDITION to the current "National Data Opt Out" available online) https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/opt-out-of-sharing-your-health-records/ 🚫 I am about to enact both 1 & 2 with my GP. 3 - THEN there is also something called a "GP Connect Opt-out" which I'm not sure how that interacts with our data yet (?) https://digital.nhs.uk/services/gp-connect/gp-connect-in-your-organisation/transparency-notice#opting-out-of-gp-connect ⚠️ So I plan to discuss what a GP Connect Opt out does with my UK GP clinic. Updates as and when I find more. #NHS #UK #Privacy #Palantir

#OtD 29 Jul 1962 fascist Oswald Mosley tried to march with the Union Movement in Manchester, UK. However, he was attacked by anti-fascists and had to be rescued by police. Given all the interest in Palantir, its likely a good time to post this map of their UK network of contracts, as researched & prepared by the Nerve six months ago.... The Nerve's full story is here: https://www.thenerve.news/p/palantir-technologies-uk-government-contracts-size-nuclear-deterrent-atomic-peter-thiel-louis-mosley with links to their ongoing investigation(s) into Palantir's contracts with the UK public sector. #palantir #politics #NHS

I'm back from the GP. Sent an online form to the #NHS surgery at 08:50 today, at 09:20 I got a text with an appointment at 10:30. Went in to see the GP at 10:20. Can't fault that. He was absolutely convinced that the low mood I've been experiencing, alongside the occasional nightmares, and slightly odd behaviour, are all due to the Finesteride I was prescribed for my enlarged prostate. He implied that I shouldn't have been prescribed it because of my history of depression. He agreed that I'm right to stop taking it, but the mood issues may not resolve quickly. I'm waiting for a referral to a Urologist now. Result! #Finesteride #BPH #MentalHealth #Depression

So, after NHS England's claims that Palantir's technology had raised patient discharges de-clogging hospital handling capacity were queried for being based (largely) on one London hospital's experience (incidentally with good links with the tech firm), now the Health Foundation in independent research on the issue has concluded (confirmed) the deployment of Palantir's software has made 'no meaningful difference' to discharge delays across the NHS! Its a con! #NHS #Palantir #politics h/t FT

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk Many of the difficulties the #nhs is encountering relate to 'stranded' patients who cannot be discharged because of problems with their care. Places funded by local authorities are limited because private providers find 'self-payers' more profitable. So local authorities cannot help much until or unless the two tier market in social care ends . It was due to end under the coalition - which legislated to allow 'self-payers' to request that the local authority act on their behalf.

Is Palantir the most gut-wrenching evil company in the world? “PALANTIR: THE COMPANY BRITAIN LET INSIDE” by Nouri in Manufactuting Dissent on Substack @uk_politics @NHSrCommunity@fosstodon.org @NoPalantirInSouthYorkshire@mstdn.social @nhsactivistrn@mas.to “Palantir isn’t a genius company. It’s not an all‑seeing machine. It’s not the terrifying intelligence system it pretends to be. It’s a company that figured out how to get close to power, and once it’s close, it stays. Not because it’s brilliant. Because nobody wants to admit they let it in without asking the right questions. The NHS didn’t choose Palantir because the software was good. It chose Palantir because the company was already inside the room, and the people inside the room were paid not to push back” https://open.substack.com/pub/mandissent/p/palantir-the-company-britain-let #Press #SocialMedia #Journalism #UK #NHS #Palantir #Thiel #Karp #Genocide #Gaza #Mandelson #Epstein #GlobalCounsel #Lobbying #FDP #DataSovereignty #ICE #CIA #Israel #Zionism #Trump #FarRight

Roy Lilley (NHSManagers.net) thinks the real organisational solution to the UK ongoing (engineered) health service crisis, is to restore regional management of health; 'powerful regions, accountable locally, operating within national standards'. This both resists the continuing centralisation (under the guise of 'standards') of the NHS, while also dealing with the more specific issue of local variances in care resulting from semi-sovereign trusts. It's not a bad idea. #Health #NHS #politics

Q: Does “evil genius” Palantir’s NHS software actually work?
