So I'm thinking about tattoo ideas on account of my 40th birthday coming up. I really really want my first tattoo for my 40th birthday. I almost definitely want the tattoo related to my spirituality, my witchcraft and my Slavic heritage. So obviously I looked for symbols representing Mara/Marzanna/Morena, the goddess I feel the most kinship towards. And it came up with this cross symbol. But, obviously there are Pagan religious symbols, including Eastern European ones, that have been coopted by fascists. The most famous is obviously the swastika, but there are very much others. And I am not putting a symbol on my skin that is even loosely associated with people who claim to be "rodzimowiercy" (Polish for neopagans borrowing from Slavic mythology, basically) but who are just fascists. So I kept looking. And wouldn't you know it. The cross is part of the symbol of the Latvian fascists, because of course it is. Latvians aren't even Slavs! Are there any symbols left that aren't dragged through shit by fascists? Sigh. #neopagan #fedicoven

#FediCoven Our 12yo gd had surgery yesterday to remove her internally fitted chemo line. It seemed to go well. She's home now, to recover gently and start putting a bit of weight back on. She's exhausted, almost transparent with big dark panda eyes. A 3-year weekly treatment plan is ahead, but hopefully the worst is behind her. Thanks to the Mórrígan, who promised me she would bring our girl through this. And thanks to you, my friends here who have held our girl in prayer. Thank you. xxx

Time has been weird these past two weeks. Like really... off. Not sure if I mentioned but last week felt like Thursday all week, then Friday I legit could not remember the week right. Like I knew it happened but... it was like I read a summary of it. "She had a mostly uneventful week, punctuated by her perpetual frustration with her job." <-- like that. THIS week has so far felt like a perpetual Weds. And I'd just dismiss it, but things ALSO feel full of potential, like one of those brief windows of possibility where the normal paths of what can be are laid aside and ANYTHING becomes possible, if u can figure it out. Last time this happened and I found my way through, I passed a threshold. Or a test. I sense, not know, that whatever it is, is something I'd never have expected. And my feeling is that I'll have to choose to take a huge risk. And that is to start. Will I pass thru, or will I miss the opp? I guess we will see. While I find the story of The Craft more entertaining, the way the magic is portrayed in Practical Magic is so much more charming and recognizable. For example, they actually call to Hekate for aid in one of the spells. In a weird way, it's basically a rather blunt request for something, which, in my experience, isn't the way she rolls. While The Craft invented a sort of meta god 2.0 in a fictional deity called Manon. I know, I know, it's comparing fictional apples... but it's always interesting to see how magic portrayed. Often it's absolutely infuriating, like the persistent idea that you need to be some sort of special chosen one. Which is why I like the end of Practical Magic, where all the Mums come together to improvise a coven. Showing there is magic in everyone. So I am re-implement the midnight margarita traditions.
