This is for the #brisbane folk of mastodon, or people who know people who live in #brisbane. This Saturday, I’ll be reading some of my best poetry at a beautiful bookstore in Indooroopilly for an hour from 1:00Pm until 2:00PM. Sweet chapter Books and cafe is a beautiful location close to the shops. Come on out, ditch the Ekka and the crowds and let your ears be filled with poetry and your emotions be vandalised by yours truly. It will be wonderful! If you don’t live close by, a simple repost would be wonderful :)

Made this coffee table from timber I salvaged after Cyclone Alfred crossed Brisbane in March 2025. 🪵 The main frame uses hardwood reclaimed from old pallets, ebonised to near-black to contrast against the storm-debris hardwood. The central ring was steam-bent from two halves, then topped with glass to protect and finish the piece. K-dog I picked up an older camera with a pancake zoom kit lens. It's light and compact, so I can just keep it in my bag. What it lacks in quality, it will make up for in availability! Most everything I share from it will be "straight out of the camera" JPGs. Earlier: one of two sulphur-crested cockatoos decide to visit the bird table. I was inside making coffee. This little fella picks up the (empty, rain-sodden) container of bird seed and waves it at me. He sees me watching. He does so again. I comply with his wishes, and he and his friend get a full container of dry bird seed. They spent the next hour munching away, happily. I'm being trained by birds. #brisbane #queensland
