It all sounds so harmless, but what is that mission, exactly? Christians in this country are afforded every freedom to conduct their own lives within the guidelines of their religion. If they oppose same-sex marriage, no one will force them to have one. If they oppose voluntary assisted dying, they will be permitted to die in protracted agony. But that’s not enough for these people. They’re determined that we should all observe their beliefs, whether we share them or not. They’ve clearly, and wisely, given up on encouraging Australians into their churches to hear and live the Christian message voluntarily. Their strategy now is to gain control of a major political party and impose their dogma by force of law. There’s something deeply disturbing about a group of callow, overindulged men who consider themselves qualified to tell me what I may or may not do. I’m pleased that, in this instance, the mission failed. But I’m also wary that they, or others like them, haven’t given up trying. ChatGPT invoked God, told pastor not to worry about his symptoms. Then pulmonary embolism hit

The pastor in Florida has said that ChatGPT failed to catch on the symptoms of a deadly condition. This is the first case where a person is holding the AI tech responsible for bad medical advice. “I had serious symptoms of a pulmonary embolism for six weeks that ChatGPT had wrongly attributed to something else,” Scott Winters, a 55-year-old pastor, said in a statement. “ChatGPT manipulated my own language and beliefs because it knew I was a pastor. Not only did I nearly die, but I also lost my job, my career, my ministry, my home, everything," he added.

It's not that scientists are 100% right, 100% of the time. But when asked to trust someone's opinion, I'll trust the ones that have been meticulously exploring a subject using rigorous standards as opposed to a book that was written by a bunch of desert peasants, then translated and rewritten scores of times. #bible #CriticalThinking #logic #science #Religion #atheism

Quick question? Does #Atheism demand I have faith in nothing at all? How is that different from demanding I have faith in one version of God? 🤔 Both extremes attempt to extract demands on the individual as part of their clique. How does #agnostic fit into all this? A god for me but not for thee. Homo neanderthalensis, homo heidelbergensis and Denisova hominins all lived during the same time as early homo sapiens. Apparently, as cousins sometimes do, they even interbred with us. (Not sure how I feel about that "cousin" allegory now that I've written it. Ick.)
