We have enough to pay a lawyer in case we need it, and smaller projects are much less likely to need a lawyer (you do that basically for heavier problems that involve money). Our main problem is actually to find local lawyers who know about FOSS and are willing to work in that context. The few that do are mostly expensive international firms...

About AI-made code commits (I will not comment on the sloppy PR descriptions today 😅): They learned well that commits must be short and well commented to get approved. But the comments are basically always commenting on the obvious things in the commit that are self-explanatory, and not on the "decisions". And they invariably all use the same "good boy" approach (declare things, then implement) even when there would be ways to do without. So these commits are mostly not short but pure bloat.

@tiberiustribun @claudius most of the flagship features of the link branch have been ported to main... I would bet all your files can be rescued, maybe needing a small surgery (open the file with a text editor and adjust some values). People on the FreeCAD forum can certainly help. Regarding addons, going to the addon page/repo and signalling what does not work or suggest feature improvements can sometimes help tremendously ;)

Many people pushing to use AI tools in FOSS projects around... The environmental issue of course, but also to just swallow big techs's shit, to ignore the authorship/licensing/ethical issues, all that would be the opposite of what a FOSS project thrives to do. Aside from that, instead giving money to AI tools, why not pay a real person to help. Anybody is free do whatever they want at home of course (and deal with their conscience 😅), but my opinion is this just cannot be done as a FOSS project.
