@0xabad1dea ah, found it, ty ah, so, 狐狸精 (excuse my traditional script I’m Taiwanese) doesn’t mean “fox demon” literally. it’s an insult drawing from the cultural belief that foxes are cunning to say someone is a, uh, manipulative bitch. 魅惑 is closer to seducing. 「對不起吶，大師我知道錯了」 the 大師 in here refers to the usage of the word 降伏 (exorcise here is a good translation) calling to the character’s (false) belief that the guy was a master or monk or duelist of some kind seeking to expel her. due to linguistics differences it may be more accurate to translate 「我知道錯了」 as “I will repent my sins” or something similar otherwise, good translation

i think talking about saving resources and not being wasteful with North Americans and some Europeans too is kinda really hard because a lot of people have the wrong impression of what “not being wasteful” is. like yeah “not throwing away stuff” is a big part but a lot of my friends have their definition just, stop at that. the way more important part about not wasting stuff is to not have excessive consumption in the first place. Don’t order more food than you can eat. don’t buy more groceries than you can cook. don’t get toys you won’t keep. that’s what being careful with your resources means, not just “don’t throw it in the bin”

@cflynnbooks@mastodonapp.uk @mrundkvist@archaeo.social I’m a perfectly average person who never went to universities and my country uses the metric system because when my country was founded they just took what was being pushed as the global standard my country is in East Asia and is barely over a hundred years old my country is, by majority, Chinese people. we’ve inherited everything except for the units. we have had a rich history of our own measurement system. we abandoned it. that wasn’t about being smart, that was about “we’re not the world powers, everyone else is adopting this new thing, let’s just use it because we won’t be able to enforce our own system” it has never been about being smart

@aisling@critters.gay @alice@lgbtqia.space I was always very very against being taken pictures of even before Trans:tm: and none of the adults ever understood why. “it’s just a photo” they always said I was forced into being taken a picture of me in middle school for the whatever collage thing for graduating students (aka: everyone, because frade 1 to 9 is mandatory education in Taiwan and you legally cannot fail). I loudly protested against having my face in there. My mom complained with me, too. I went to every teacher I know, I went to the very people organising the collage, and they just wouldn’t let me have it. Someone literally said “you don’t have the rights to refuse”. I indeed do not, that doesn’t make you any less evil. I was particularly against it because that’s a public image of me that’s forever archived as long as my country still exists because it’s a public school. Indeed, I was old enough to know that I had no legal rights to refuse because I wasn’t 16 yet.
