Of course, the day after returning from #emfcamp , where I had to change trains once on the way out and twice on the way back, I catch a train one stop from Paddington to Reading and it would have taken me right to Ledbury

Now that I'm slightly more alive having been home for a couple of hours, there was a dog on my last train back from #emfcamp and it made me think of the Underground-based automaton from https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/2026/127-a-short-history-of-arcades-and-arcade-machines

If anyone I know (or don't know, but that seems unlikely with my tiny following) who's at #emfcamp wants to meet and hasn't yet, it's the last day! Feel free to call me on 9047 to coordinate

@amberage@eldritch.cafe @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange figuring out how to open consoles in games was an experience. "It's the ~ key!" Presses ~, nothing happens. Realises it's actually the backtick key. Is very confused. Wonders if a backtick is a tilde. Repeats this process many times before realising it's never the tilde key.

@doragasu@mastodon.sdf.org @SuperSelena64@vmst.io but you can't use the LA without spending a bunch more money on the pod thing to hook stuff up, which does contain active electronics. I'm waiting to see if anyone is successful with making a homebrew one (happy "bandwidth upgraded" DHO914S owner of several years here)

@babe in my emoji set, at least, that looks like the opposite of a cheery seahorse. It's a depressed land horse numbly staring as the wave comes to take them away. Although thinking about it, maybe this is the precursor to it becoming a cheery seahorse and it's actually a happy ending

@robinince ugh, I missed that article at the time. I have quite a large backlog of Monkey Cage episodes to make my way through, back to 2024, so I knew it would be a while before I'd have to confront a decision as to what to do after you'd effectively been forced out, but your sharing of that article makes me definitely feel unable to enjoy whatever happens next with it without you

@ajnn @lispi314 whilst I'm absolutely for shunning anything developed using LLMs, and don't think there's any current ethical justification for using resource-hungry subsidised LLMs, I don't think those Copilot terms apply to Github Copilot because I can't find those terms of service being linked to from Github.

RE: @turmoni@social.treehouse.systems

Apart from the eight months part, this is still the case - I've mostly worked with Python (and Perl, but not for a long time), I enjoy poking around at things and understanding how they work, after fixing my 3D printer my next personal project will probably be looking at the USB host support that's just been merged into the Embassy Rust embedded framework

I'm UK-based, looking for remote, and very much preferably not requiring LLM use

@molly0xfff I recently discovered the community firmware that gives you per-key RGB control and this is incredibly useful for my gaming layer that shifts a bunch of keys over by one so WASD is usable. I no longer have to think "wait is this one of the keys that I moved or is it normal?"

@develin @nicole it's probably worth noting that the GameCube controller is rather unique with its button layout so button choice isn't as almost arbitrary as on most other consoles. I've never played any Mega Mans (Mega Men?) so I have no idea of its particular impact here, but the A button is a big green one where your thumb is, and the B button is a smaller red one

@dull @nicole .online is a funny idea for a TLD (yeah as opposed to all of those offline domains), I think only surpassed by the promo blurb for ".onl" (same people) claiming it's the official abbreviation of online. At least, that's what it did when it was new.

@ArchiteuthisFlux@leds.social I made the two terrible mistakes of buying the original in 2024, and then being unemployed. I'm sure I'll eventually cave for the shiny new thing though... (And no I'm not in any serious way saying buying the original was a mistake, god I hate jumper wires for what should be a relatively simple test circuit being thrown together, which is most of my breadboard use)
