@slyka Damn, finally arrived... but it's broken 😭. L3 inductor was ripped of the PCB, and also a plastic bracket is broken and with clear signs of an attempted repair by gluing with cyanocrylate or similar 😡. Will have to return it and buy from other seller.

This is the most comprehensive analysis of what we know about #ClaudeMythos I have seen. Until reading this, I thought Mythos was 95% marketing. Now I know it's not, it's 100% marketing. https://www.flyingpenguin.com/the-boy-that-cried-mythos-verification-is-collapsing-trust-in-anthropic/

I've been not having too much sleep this week... because I purchased #ScarletHollow and I have been completely absorbed. Yesterday finished chapter 5 and the final chapter 6 has not yet been released. But the branching depth looks so deep, I'm starting another playthrough with a different build and different choices, I am intrigued by many things I could have done differently... Awesome game. If the conclusion does not disappoint, it will be one of my all time favorites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwZ9wlVV42U

@retrakker @jplebreton It was not "dropping off some code". It was releasing the sources for the most advanced and best performing 3D gaming engines of their time. It's unfortunate money corrupted him to descend into "moral disorientation" as the OP says, but if you read books like "Masters of Doom", it is for me clear his hacker spirit was there back in the day, he was the kind of person that just wanted to do cool things with computers.

@retrakker @jplebreton He was a legend in the days of early 3D graphics, up until the days of MegaTexture (Clipmapping) tech in idTech4. This is specially distressing for me because he also had a hacker spirit: he released the source of his games when they were on top, and while nobody else was doing it, because he believed in free information and source was an extension of it.

@t3rr0rz0n3 I bought my current desktop in 2019 and went for 32 GiB RAM. It was just before GPUs started increasing price like crazy because of the cryptobros, and of course before the current RAM scarcity caused by aibros. I was quite lucky and I hope this computer lasts for a few years more, until the bubble pops and things get a bit saner.

@bodil It introducing memory leaks is specially bad, because the code "will work", but the leaks will cause problems in the future, when you are not debugging that code anymore. Yeah, slop is slop after all.

@bodil I never use these tools, but yesterday I was using libcbor for the first time and decided giving chatgpt a try to generate a small snippet to decode a simple structure. It introduced two memory leaks (didn't call cbor_decref() on extra references it created). Told it if it shouldn't be calling cbor_decref() on those, and it confidently said you must not because those references were borrowed (wrong, and the documentation states clearly they aren't 🤷‍♂️).

@nixCraft They also have this big problem, they have invested so much on OpenAI, that when it bursts into flames, they might be forced to buy it to try saving what they can. They are not as f*cked as Oracle because of their stupid investment on the tech, but they have big problems.

This is what the slop machine is leading software development to: junior/middle devs generating slop at an astounding rate, and senior devs completely overloaded with code reviews, to the point they cannot thoroughly review them because the slop pile never ends.

Also junior devs that never will stop being junior because they'll learn nothing from the process.

Windows was never that stable, but since Microsoft stated "30% of our code is written by AI", it's directly a shitshow. What I didn't see coming is AWS seeing its stability seriously compromised because of #LLM generated code. https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/03/after-outages-amazon-to-make-senior-engineers-sign-off-on-ai-assisted-changes/

@flod @anthropy Thanks for having a look. So far I had problems with calendar apps due to timezone spoofing, and with webs not picking system theme (dark), but anti fingerprinting protections can be relaxed per site (or completely disabled if you wish) and I had no problem fixing the issues them. I am a privacy minded person so this is good for me, but I agree I would not recommend it to the "average Joe".
