Wow, looks like #cloudflare fired a bunch of people after they hired a bunch of people a few months ago and while making a ton of money.
We're hitting a recession, and there are hard times ahead, be prepared.
Some years ago the majestic horse chestnut trees in my neighborhood started getting sick, and the city gardening service started cutting them down, and after a while they started replanting some other ones (red horse chestnuts, presumably resistant to the disease).
I remember being upset, at the thought of these scrawny little things replacing the old ones.
But, the saying is right, the best day to plant a tree was ten years ago, the next best day is today.

Yesterday I had a day out with a few friends I hadn't seen in a while, and we ended up talking about AI.
Two of them (one in management/commerce, one in academia/physics) are actually using paid subscriptions for #AI tooling.
While I already knew that was common for coders these are the first non-techies I hear getting enough value to be willing to pay for it.
I still think there's a financial bubble, but once more: please don't put your head in the sand about this stuff.
I binge watched "a knight of the seven kingdoms" and I loved it (my son liked it too).
It has a very different vibe from game of thrones, more uplifting and fun, and it's a nice refresh from the scheming and thousands characters madness of House of the Dragon.
AFAIU there's a few stories of Dunk and Egg, so I hope they have a few other single-arc seasons in store.

My colleagues (I have not conducted an interview in a while) report that candidates do seem "dumber" on average, than they once were, but of course it's anecdotes and feelings not hard data.
(I use LLMs and don't feel I'm getting less capable, but maybe I am)

I already agreed that the Benelux was an example of cooperation.

I think some pedagogical practices have changed too over the years tho. E.g. nobody teaches "casting out nines" anymore (afaict).
Perhaps some of the manual work we considered important for learning just wasn't so.

What I'm saying is that if it appears LLM generated than it does not "look good" and so it's fine to reject it.
Otherwise, I think if a dev took time to edit it, it's just like another one.

@bert_hubert I think mastodon's LLM policy is a good one, iiuc: when you submit a PR you are responsible for it.
If you produce good code with an LLM and review it, that's fine. If you submit LLM generated slop you get ignored.
A good LLM-generated PR should be indistinguishable from a good human one.
