@Richard_Littler@mastodon.social I know this is way beyond of the situation's main issue, but it's absurd to me how can anyone say this image is restored! even with this faded out state of the original, it's clear that the AI image is nothing like the original: the nose, eyes, lips, ear are completely off for frak sake 🤦‍♂️

@ariadne@social.treehouse.systems this is why I hate reviewing LLM codes.

a human-made change-set has intent, a reason why a given line is there because they had a thought process and the code followed that.

I often ask why during a review, and usually there are 2 outcomes:

the code is good but I didn't see the logic (so I learn something)
it's wrong and the author made a mistake (so the they learn something and we fix it)

with agentic code this conversation crumbles in 2 seconds and I'm left frustrated.

@mlevison@agilealliance.social @deborahh@cosocial.ca hallucinations are a feature, not something that will be fixed. sure, you can work it around, but a LLM _will_ hallucinate. you say it's a time problem but advocates of GenAI are saying we're in the casp of technological singularity for years! so how much more time they need? how much money we need to spend on it, how much more natural resources we need to sacrifice, how many human lives need to be ruined until at least one of these will have a better than mediocre output?

@deborahh@cosocial.ca (rhetorical question, but) if these tools are not even good for transcribing audio, then what are they good for??! this kind of precision was already achieved by more primitive voice recognition softwares WAAAAYYY BEFORE large language models, so why do we need to feed the entirety of human corpus to train these?? not to mention this is voice recognition, I bet recognising objects on a picture has way lower accuracy. (like generating alt text, as so many claims LLMs are good for.)

@db@social.lol there's so much between the lines here... it's not an judgement on someone's performance, but also not a cost-cutting exercise across the whole company! then what are you basing off who gets laid off?? particularly disheartening that they describe some laid off employees as high impact contributors that made the company as successful as they are now, but they didn't fall in line to use stochastic parrot, so they have to go. (I'm reading a bit into it, I know)

@miclgael@hachyderm.io the first example seemed to me just as someone trapped themselves with their phrasing and ended up with this meaningless word salad 😅 I'm still not convinced that this is slop, partly because of the style can be admitted to someone, partly because I don't know the genre enough and the sentences barely mean anything to me. but because of this I believe you more than my own judgement! in any case I hate that we have to pay attention to this and it's harder everyday to spot the clues 😣

@rauschma@fosstodon.org I feel like my-script should execute pbpaste inside, transform its output, then on success, pipe it to pbcopy itself.

it wouldn't follow the Unix's philosophy per se, but neither keeping the input on error, while running the command would have a better ergonomy with a single my-script call!

(unless this is a greatly simplified example and the setup is much more convoluted than just two pipes)

@amxmln my best bet would be AliExpress, although the quality really depends on the seller. another I'd try is KeebFinder's keycap category, you can filter it by layout standard: https://keeb-finder.com/keycaps?ms_layoutStandard=ISO if nothing else works, you can also try /r/mechmarket, but I didn't have a luck there as a lot of people try to sell undesired keys from an international layout (so keys they don't need for their locale) for the full price.

and I can't *really* wind down because I'm still thinking of the problem / how I'd continue. at the same time, when I finally reach the point I wanted the next day (with lots of staring again), the achievement feeling is nowhere because my brain understands it as I've spent too much time on it. and it's a lose-lose situation because (instead of logging off) I'd continue for hours while neglecting drink and food or maintaining a healthier computer / other activities balance... 😮‍💨

@adhdjesse@mastodon.social I observed that mine also runs on "don't have enough time to make sufficient progress on this right now": even working on my pet projects I'm staring at the code for the whole afternoon and I only gain progress just at the end of the day, ~15 minutes before I wanted to log off 😑 thanks brain, I can only make a half-working solution which I'll struggle to finish all day tomorrow instead of having actual commits "now".
