@MostlyHarmless@thecanadian.social lol I have been running #nextcloud at home since forever. Currently on an #Asustor #nas that runs continuously on an average of 15W. On a 0.25 euro energy plan, that's about €30/year. Including HW cost spread over 6 years, its about €50/year.
So much for that hyperscaling advantage.
If you're paying $150(+)/year to #apple for that service, you're getting ripped off. And that's the start of it

Recent werd bekend wat de Duitse overheid uitgeeft aan microsoft LICENTIES (Let op: alleen de FEDERALE overheid dus he: Geen deelstaten of gemeenten, etc)
Gaat u er maar even voor zitten ja..
Bijna 500 miljoen Euro. Per jaar..
De werkelijke bedragen die aan MS worden overgemaakt zijn echter nog veel hoger, want naast licenties betaal je ook nog voor opslag en dataverkeer de Azure cloud in- en uit.
In NL zal het (verhoudingsgewijs) nóg erger zijn, beloof ik jullie.

Ik waardeerde uw aanwezigheid hier en was optimistisch.
De naïviteit waarmee u naar buiten treedt op het vakgebied digitale zaken stelt mij echter zeer teleur.
De vele berichten over al 't moois dat AI moet brengen vind ik erg eenzijdig en naïef.
Maar vooral dat het woord #digid nog niet éémaal is gevallen in uw berichten vind ik treurig. En ik ben geloof ik niet de enige.
180K mensen tekende de petitie. De TK vroeg u in te grijpen.
Waarom negeert u dit allemaal?

Grote systeem-wijzigingen zoals #btw en #digid moeten natuurlijk gebruikt worden om wel n keer fundamentele vragen te stellen en veranderingen te eisen.
De moeilijkheid zit m vaak niet eens in het te wijzigen systeem zelf, maar meer met alle integraties daaromheen (want inmiddels dus allemaal afhankelijk van Microsoft).
Bovendien zitten ook nog met het probleem dat heel veel mensen die bij al die ICT afdelingen werken, ook niets anders meer kennen dan Microsoft /3

Inmiddels is de situatie zo verworden dat alle ICT afdelingen door heel nederland vooral verzoeken van de interne organisatie ontvangen om die en die Entra of Azure vinkjes aan te zetten of deze ene endpoint toe te voegen, wanneer er nieuwe software (meestal SaaS) moet komen.
Dit proces gaat dus vaak sluipend. Niet ineens. Het vragen stellen over het aanzetten van 'die paar extra vinkjes' wordt vaak als oncoorperatief ervaren.

Dat is helaas nooit zo. En daardoor is juist MS zo groot geworden. Eerst de clients in een netwerk, daarna de users samengebracht in een (Active)Directory. Toen gingen die over naar de Azure AD, en inmiddels Entra ID. Tegelijk werd het met vinkjes in Entra extreem makkelijk gemaakt om Software, Services, Data en personen te koppelen.

Dit is natuurlijk vaker het probleem voor het bewustmaken van van oudsher verstokte for-profit, closed-source, niet-eu gebaseerde social media gebruikers zoals de #nos
Wat de boer niet kent dat vreet ie niet, en als ie het niet eens ziet, al helemaal niet.
Het is lastig door dringen tot hen die het internet bezien vanuit hun huidige commerciele filters.

So Schleswig-Holstein plans to also move their civil service to Linux. This is obviously a very good thing for true digital souvereignity in the EU.
However, I encourage everyone to study well the case of the City of Munich, that tried the same thing some 10 years ago. Do NOT spin your own bespoke Linux distro is lesson 1.

Helaas blijven veel andere beleidsgebieden achter. Vooral door minder volwassen gedrag van sommige lidstaten (waaronder -weer helaas- nederland)
