@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org @catch56@kolektiva.social Basically it's a bit more convenient. But the digital converter used might sound better than what's in any given laptop. I set mine to show up as AirPlay devices, since I'm typically using Apple music lossless on iPhone for music. I have one on each system in the house. As long as I'm on the home network I can send the music to any/all. But it can also be set to use bluetooth, or Spotify. Or it can play audio files from a media server. It has a bunch of internet radio stations preset, for use as a standalone device. But you can add pretty much any radio station audio stream.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org If you do any digital/streaming music, this is a fun build and will let you stream to your newly refreshed vintage HiFi system. It's a ProtoDAC TDA1387 "hat" that goes on a Raspberry Pi. It runs Moode Audio software. These are a fun and easy build. I've built four of them. (I don't have a problem, I can stop anytime 😆) They can sound really good for not a ton of money. With careful selection of capacitors and resistors, they can sound amazing.
