Used my pizza rack for its intended purpose tonight. One of the local brew pubs is a “bring your own food” place, so we did. Played some Flamecraft Duals for the first time. Tonight was our last beautiful weather night before it heats up, so I really wanted to spend it outside. #BikeTooter #BoardGames
Finished one side of a baby blanket that I’m currently knitting for someone. Holding off on blocking it as I want I want to be able to compare as I knit side 2. Once both sides are done, I’ll block, steek, and then knit a border to connect them. Hoping to finish by the time the baby turns 1 😹 #knitting
Day 22 of #30DaysOfBiking - to school with the teen, to my office, and then to Buchanan Arts tonight for stitching class. We sat outside for class tonight and it was beautiful out! #BikeTooter
My new wheel for bike 1 has arrived at the bike shop. My new battery charger for bike 2 has arrived at my house. But I’m really happy that the bike shop loaned me a bike so that none of this feels miraculous and incredibly urgent, just more “ok, getting back to normal soon.” #BikeTooter
An occasional reminder that if you’re 50 or older and haven’t gotten two doses of the shingles vaccine, this is an effective vaccine that helps to prevent an extremely painful and potentially debilitating disease. While the vaccine gets a bad rap for being rough to deal with (not my experience, personally), literally every person I know who has had shingles has talked about getting shingles being really horrible. https://www.npr.org/2026/04/06/nx-s1-5745209/shingles-symptoms-vaccine-treatment
Yesterday we had a moment that reminded me that biking builds community connections. While biking home from the farmers market, I saw what looked like a wallet on the street. We stopped & found the owner’s address on their drivers license. Fortunately they still live there so we were able to return it directly to them. This little gesture saved this person a huge amount of worry and work. This is what biking has given me - the ability to notice and to act. #BikeTooter
Mapped out a route for a group ride next Sunday this afternoon. One reason I always ride every part of a route before taking others on it: Nashville is basically all hills and so what looks like a cute little side detour could be a brutal slog up a bizarrely steep hill. The views were great! But not something I want to lead others on. Did a bit of #coffeeneuring on the way. #BikeTooter
Decided we would stop at the French(ish) bakery on the bike ride to school this morning. Literally the only reason we go past this business is because of a protected bike lane. There’s no way we’d take this route without the bike lane and no way we’d stop here if we were in a car. I wish they had bike parking though! Another thing about biking is how often you get to have truly beautiful moments that you’d probably miss otherwise. #BikeTooter #food
