@Undercat I know very little, but maybe not exactly 100% friendly, but probably not all that unfriendly. Both Nanaimo and Victoria are decently diverse, with Nanaimo having some fairly strong, "logger et al" community which can be tricky to sus out if you're not familiar with them. I'd say decent, the walkability/bikeability I'm not that familiar with at all. Check out maps regarding that?

@ariaflame@masto.ai @Dionysus@dice.camp Traditional D&D rules actually had the idea that you would play in a single "dungeon" and the actions of those playing one day, would affect the state of the dungeon another day. I was really just trying to get *one* person to be able to come and make progress. I still want to figure out how to manage 1 shot or something easier. Like can have a 2-3 hour session and being an enjoyable and "complete" session.

@scy@chaos.social The fuck... *years* later they are, "warning" me that they "might" delete data that was requested to be deleted. Yeah... That kind of hits home. I mean... I get why a privacy policy *may* be required, but it seems like if your product doesn't really communicate (well it might, I think some of them have the ability to use web hosted content (yep, text manipulation can take a URL).

@clive@saturation.social I found I could buy a battery for the Toughbook, and it wouldn't be an issue to replace, but the options I found were going to be in the $100+ range (or maybe £100+) and it just didn't feel worth it. It might be an option now.

@clive@saturation.social Not sure how old the laptop I have Linux on is... Battery is essentially useless (about 15 minutes, which is reasonable if you are aware of that, and know you can move it without shutting down, and plug it back in), and has a Pentium III processor. For what I want it for (mostly writing) it's quite fair.

I have already taken action against the lack of moderation there, but there are real people (not the likes of Neil who I'd not let sway my decision) who are on mastodon.social. And honestly... I think that even not having totally defederated, there's a fair chance limiting has been making it a lot harder to see random stuff from there.
