I'm also going to post this Undercat album, which was released in secret last year and sadly got almost no attention. The whole concept was a giant farce that I cooked up for my friend's record label, but trust me it really is an Undercat album and I'm probably prouder of it than I should be. Given recent news I'm not in much of a mood to self-promote. However, I will say that I am releasing a new Undercat album tomorrow titled "Tinky Winky is Dead." @nham and @TIBtv are helping me out with a listening party at 7 PM UTC (noon PDT) on Friday. The album is, among other things, a rumination on aging and death, which is sadly appropriate right now. I'm proud of what I managed to put together. I had written a little speech and had it on my phone because I did not feel confident enough to wing it. And so the moment came as we were all seated in the living room. I pulled up my prepared statement on my phone and stammered my way through, my wife holding my hand, me trying my very best not to cry as anxiety slowly ate a hole through my guts. 3/4

In December of 2023 my then-girlfriend and now wife flew from Alaska to NY to visit. Her Christmas present for me was a completed set of paperwork for my legal name change. She also flew back to be with me when I came out to my 87 year old mother, as she knew I was terrified to have that conversation. So the day came when we drove down to mom’s to have dinner and for me to give her the news. My sister, always supportive, also joined us there. 2/4

I have surgery today of the gender affirming variety. I cannot eat, drink, or take any of my meds until after its over. By the time we reach that point I'm going to be a starved, caffeine-deprived, feral monster. Pray for my wife, who has to deal with my miserable ass through this process.

@bgm Presumably there is a board of directors running the event. You'd probably have to show up to a board meeting with an angry mob ready to state the case against AI art and demonstrate that the board's decision will in some way materially hurt the festival. Sadly the decision probably comes down to money.

@bgm What a cool idea and how tragic that they decided to go the AI route for art and stifle any discussion of the implications. We recently went through something similar with our local community theater. It's led to a lot of seasoned crew and actors boycotting the theater over their decision to use AI art for their promotional material.

@TG_Esq I can do VHS transfers, actually, and have done a few. I'm going to get a blank reel of tape and test out this old reel machine and if it works then I can transfer the handful of old reels left behind by my dad.

@TG_Esq My dad, brother, and I recorded stuff together with it when I was very young. I have a couple of reels that *might* have some of those recordings but I’m a bit scared of trying to play them until I can confirm that the machine is still intact and functioning.

Someone was talking about coming out and it has me contemplating if it was worth it. Prior to doing so I was a miserable human being to be sure, but coming out blew up my life. It led to losing my job and rendered me that much more unemployable and I've yet to find my way past that. Beyond that it's made every interaction I have with another human that isn't a trusted friend fraught with peril. 1/2

Bandcamp Friday is beginning to wane elsewhere in the world (not here though because we exist on Narnia time). I probably could have spammed the new EP more but I don't want to be a self-aggrandizing annoyance. Thank you to everyone who's provided support, retoots, bought the album, and said/written so many nice things about my work. It means everything to me. I probably won't ever make a living at this but I really have made some wonderful friends out there in the world as a result of my music.

The last year marked a seismic shift in my approach to Convair. In years past I was content to do little lo-fi textural pieces and long, ambient drones, but December 2025 marked a return to actual songwriting. The first example of this was "Lived Ever After", which was really a blend of both approaches.
