Hah, I hit print screen on a scope at the makerspace that I’m just learning to use (it’s older but 1GHz), then went “oh wait, I bet it’ll want a floppy for that”. But then something on it started whirring. Took me a second to realize the whirring was it doing what I’d asked, and this came out of a slot on the top!

I don't understand harassing other people for wearing a mask. It affects you not-at-all, I'm just walking down the street. The sky is currently orange and it looks foggy there's so much smoke, I've had asthma kill two friends and I am doing my best to not join them.

My new-to-me Braille display (which I will post more about soon, I am very excited about it) has maybe the most satisfying charging animation of any device I’ve used. It feels very pleasant and makes a nice noise. #braille

The plywood for Franklin’s new shell came in while I was travelling for work, so started working on cutting it all to size today! Got two replacement roof panels, a replacement rear panel, and four window frames/mounts all traced and cut out. I don’t often do much woodworking at the shop, it’s fun once in awhile.

Next week my goal is to get the new front pieces cut and make a list of all the nuts/bolts/washers we need. #choochoo

@WTL@mastodon.social direct connection between USB-C and the audio input ports on my hearing aids :) I’d usually use Bluetooth via a protocol converter box, but I have some long-ish flights coming up and the converter box’s battery only lasts 3-4h these days, so want to be able to do a cabled connection instead. That port is usually used for these little RF receivers which let me connect remote microphones up, but once in awhile direct audio input is handy.

@f4grx@chaos.social @adorfer@chaos.social @gsuberland@chaos.social it looks like they’re not what you might think when you hear “quadrax”, rather a lighter alternative to twisted pair with four wires inside a shield. https://www.gore.com/products/quad-cables-aerospace-defense-air-land I suspect this connector has two redundant gigabit Ethernet paths on it, since the vehicle it’s on is TTEthernet-based.

@msh@coales.co Onboard Data Network, in this case! It's an Orion part, and no optical involved with this specific bit as far as I'm aware.

@fkreiner@chaos.social whoa, I've been a Connector Enthusiast for years and had never heard of ODU! Thank you, I'm definitely going to spec some of these into a project someday :D It sure does look like their kind of thing.

@gsuberland@chaos.social It is aerospace yeah, I should have specified that! It looks almost like some cores of M8s in a rectangular shell.

Anyone know offhand what type this connector is? I'm sure I've seen this type of thing somewhere before but can't figure out what it is.

I love that they still add fake Quindar tones to the CAPCOM transmissions just because everyone’s used to it and they ended up being useful outside of their original use case.

@ZenHeathen @vk6flab Thank you! I hadn't seen the CSA one, I'll set that one up on my wall display. The fan-made one seems to have the wrong data (it's significantly ahead of where the mission actually is in both MET and distance) at least on my machines.
