Five countries – Spain, Ireland, Iceland, Slovenia and the Netherlands – boycotted this year’s contest over Israel’s participation in it, marking the biggest crisis for the event in its 70-year history.
Huge swathes of fans have also boycotted the normally joyful, glitzy spectacle, and outside the arena on Saturday, some people dressed as clowns, carrying a sign which read “United by Genocide” – a reference to the contest’s official slogan, “United by Music.”

@fristi@56k.dile-up.nl there must be an instruction manual for DIYing this 👀 i use my ebike for daily transport and to move stuff around as well (big bags on each side of the rear weel) which is great for biking to work and weekly shopping needs etc. i wish all people tried this, it's really liberating to be able to move around without gas or skipping traffic :ablobblewobble:

@fristi@56k.dile-up.nl finally more safe scooters and with hardware/software limits on speed, etc, can be designed to be part of urban mobility.
also i think another issue rises about youth choosing scooters over bikes to increase their movement autonomy, which ia related to scooter rentals and how these xompanies have pestered city centers, i.e. commercialism and enshitification of every aspect of our life, rather than a safety issue. but that's beyond the points you mention :blobcatthumbsup:

@fristi@56k.dile-up.nl i am pro 20-30 km/h limit on any type of mobility in living areas/within cities. bikes, scooters, ebikes, busses, cars especially. let me see how many will choose driving a car over public transportation when limits as low as 30 as imposed! but for such measures we need societal involvement. no need to play the policing game when no one values the need for such measures right? :blobcatshrug:

@fristi@56k.dile-up.nl most of these issues won't be solved by age restriction ban. i think open societal involvement is the way to go. along with good factual sources on what causes traffic and road rush (yeah it's cars) and how we can make roads safer by abandoning the car mentallity. especially in a country like greece where more than few people drive cars without a license or paid to get it without passing required exams, it is extremely important to have societal involvement and education on such measures

επίσης νομίζω ότι θα ήταν πιο σκόπιμη και η απαγόρευση ενοικιαζόμενων παρά προσωπικών σκούτερ, αλλά αυτό είναι συζήτηση για την εμπορευματοποίηση και όχι για την ασφάλεια. αντίστοιχα τα blue vello που έχουν ενοικιαζόμενα ποδήλατα (και ηλεκτρικά νομίζω?) στο Παρίσι μια χαρά μου φαίνονται, οπότε πες με biased σε αυτό αν θες 😇

@sang_froid@electricrequiem.com πιστεύω ότι μια ρύθμιση στην ταχύτητα των ηλεκτροκίνητων (π.χ. έως 25-30 km/h όπως είναι το όριο και στα ποδήλατα ή έξω από σχολεία και κατοικημένες περιοχές) θα ήταν πολύ πιο σκόπιμη από άποψη προστασίας των οδηγών και πεζών. αλλά θέλω και ρύθμιση που μες την πόλη να απαγορεύεται να πηγαίνουν τα αυτοκίνητα με πάνω από 35-40 km/h επίσης παρακαλώ (πόσες φορές με έχουν προσπεράσει με 40+ km/h όσο φρενάρω μπροστά σε διάβαση ή πριν από στροφή με stop δε λέγεται 🙄🚲)

ok, as it seems a 13-year-old who was driving an electric scooter died in a crashed after a car hit him.
and of course it is not the fault of the car driver, or the faulty roads, or that no one drives safe in this country... it's the fault of the 13-year-olds who drive scooters on village roads and the government needs to regulate their use by teens asap (I assume with some age verification in the scooter's application; lol) /sarcasm

ok απ' ότι φαίνεται πέθανε ένα 13χρονο που οδηγούσε ηλεκτρικό σκούτερ σε τροχαίο με αυτοκίνητο που έπεσε πάνω του. και φυσικά δεν φταίει ο οδηγός αμαξιού ή οι δρόμοι ή ότι δεν βάζει κανείς φλας σε αυτή την χώρα... φυσικά φταίνε τα 13χρονα που οδηγάνε σκούτερ σε δρόμο χωριού και πρέπει να ρυθμιστεί η χρήση τους asap (να υποθέσω με κάποιο age verification στην εφαρμογή του σκούτερ? λολ)

i used to prefer archive today because it needed no JS to run on my browser. now they also implemented a google captcha, which of course requires JS to run, thus i see to point on using this service anymore, especially now that i know of their rwcent deeds...
