@CoMaps@floss.social Bringing more people to OSM editing is awesome! Good job!
But I wonder how conflicts are solved. CoMaps works on offline map data with a certain age. What happens when someone edits a point in CoMaps that was edited in OSM data but CoMaps not having the latest data avbailable.

@CoMaps@floss.social Now that map date and app update are decoupled, it would be great being able to see the map data update date right besides the map name and not "hidden" in some other location of the app.

@CmykStudent Honestly I think this is the best we can have. Since Gnome hates icons, they won't magically come back. 👍
The solution looks like Udiskie's on Wayland for the custom checkbox icons.
I dislike the non-separation between text and icons and that there's just empty space where the icons should be, but oh well, this is what GTK is about nowadays ... 🫤

@CmykStudent This is such a long awaited feature! Finally it's been worked on! 👍
But I could not come up with a single use case for intentionally and irrevocably destroying image information except when exporting to a rasterized image format. Destructive editing should be removed entirely from all of GIMPs tools ...

@CoMaps@floss.social Those are more like developer instructions, not translator instructions 😃
I did quite a few translations and quite some coding, so I know both sides but I am a firm believer of strictly separating translations and code/logic.
I’m not saying translators are not able to handle it, but they might not be willing to. It’s already hard enough to find volunteer translators for your projects anyways (been there, tried that …).
I don’t mind and also I did some translations last year, but there are translators who never wrote any code. They might be scared away from having to deal with such complex strings full of logic.

@CoMaps@floss.social I’d love to, but … your translation strings are so weird and confusing.
Why is %#@value@ a translatable string? Why are there multiple NULL as translatable strings? … and what the hell is this?
money|U+1F3E6|U+1F4B0|U+1F4B2|U+1F4B3|U+1F4B4|U+1F4B5|U+1F4B6|U+1F4B7
Translators should not have to deal with technical terms, strings that should not be translated at all, or weird lists of IDs and Unicode codepoints.
Having the app translatable was clearly and obviously an afterthought. Are there any plans to clean that mess up? Is there a reasonable way to help?

Wow, what a revolutionary idea! Instead of the classic method of scraping with 100,000 IPs, a simple, modest donation to OpenStreetMap gets you—a direct download link in a machine-friendly format? 🌍✨
Who would've thought that giving back to the community could be so innovative and efficient? It's almost like we’re discovering that supporting open data is the best way to ensure the long-term health of these platforms. 💡💸
This is a win-win for both the data ecosystem and the companies who choose to follow this simple, elegant solution. Keep up the amazing work—can't wait to see even more initiatives like this! 🙌
