@anon98@infosec.exchange 2/2 Next come the Think-pads which don't have the rugged-ised shells of the previous models but are fine for hard office environments & factory shop floor. I've used Think-pads since 1998 in paintshops & assembly lines across the world & treated them poorly at times but they just keep going & used to have a lot of user changeable parts but they caught the apple glue n clip assembly methods in the early 2010s but are now building the workstation models thicker with better cooling

@anon98@infosec.exchange at the top are Getac which is used by the military BUT you pay 2K USD higher prices next is the Panasonic Toughbook rugged laptops with a 500 -1000 USD premium & the rugged-ised Dell Latitudes again a premium product. Both these 2 ranges are not cutting edge tech usually being a year or so behind i've used Getac & Panasonic & they are very durable for field work in rugged conditions with poor weather & rough terrain / handling. 1/2

@kinderstampfer@mstdn.social tbh remembering my x280 #Thinkpad i wouldnt even think of running any photoshop/darktable/indesign type program on an intel iGPU model you might get away with a AMD Ryzen 7 iGPU machine but your looking at a minium of 16GB RAM & a modern dGPU if your working with large files. if my memory is correct the x280 RAM is glued in place & is thus not upgradable, it already has SSD?
