I'm a dad of 3 grown kids and a grandfather to 2 beautiful girls.

I enjoy retro video games, but I'm not obsessive about them.

I love TV and movies, and spend a lot of time watching something. I absolutely love music.

I enjoy playing trivia, sometimes as many as 3 or 4 nights a week.

I'm a Christian, but not that kind of "Christian".

I'm a lefty, bleeding heart liberal.

@muz4now@mastodon.world At the very least, they've added a "Report" button that lets you report the fact that songs shouldn't be associated with the artist they're currently associated with. That's a start.

@muz4now@mastodon.world With Tidal's history (and, basically, reason for existing), I _doubt_ they're just trying to avoid paying royalties, but I've been wrong before. All I know is that AI squatting on real artist profiles is completely out of control on Tidal right now. Almost every day there's a new song from "Nero", and I have to check the song credits to see if it's actually Nero (Dan Stephens, Joe Ray, Alana Watson), or if it's just credited to "NERO Music" (or some other person using that name)

Well, damn. I was going to do a halftime round at trivia tonight giving people the name of a board game and asking them to tell me which company produces/distributes it here in the US.

Little did I know that Hasbro bought out Parker Brothers *and* Milton Bradley years ago, so, 99% of the super-popular games are theirs, now. There are a handful by Mattel, but the rest are indie companies that folks wouldn't know (or are the same as the game).

Now I have to come up with something else.

I'm seeing a bunch of sensational news headlines related to the Kentucky Derby, and every one I've read so far has been incredibly misleading.

A handful say things along the lines of "Kentucky Derby winning jockey loses most of his winnings right after race", and the story actually basically says "the winning jockey gets a certain percentage of the purse, but then they have to pay their employees, taxes, etc., so they're left with a much smaller payday"

Ancient Aliens: aliens just be real, because the ancient Egyptians made busts of pharaohs that look like the modern image we have of aliens, including one of King Tut.

Me: We literally have King Tut's mummy. It's clearly not a "gray alien". They've even done DNA testing on it.

@ross I'm not sure about where you are, but here in the US, trying to figure any of that out is highly dependent on where you live, work, and plan to live in the future. $2000-3000/month is plenty to live on in many places, but doesn't even scratch the surface of a rent or mortgage payment in other places.

@rem I use a service called Cloudsmith to host them as NPM bundles, then install them into my projects from there. They also offer Composer package hosting, but I've only just started delving into that.

Does anyone know how screen readers handle things like brand names where they mash multiple words together with no spaces? For instance, "Siteimprove" or "NebulaOne"? Does it make a difference if they use capital letters? I assume it is pretty straightforward when it's 2 hard sounds (such as "WordPress") but softer sounds, especially vowels.

@statsguy@mas.to I'm also fortunate that energy here in WV is very cheap compared to a lot of other locations. I think our kWh price is still ~$0.135 USD. I know there are other places where it's almost ten times that price. Still, that's up 3 cents/kWh in the past 2 years, but it's still relatively cheap.

@statsguy@mas.to thankfully (I'm sure this will change at some point, given where I live), state law in West Virginia says they have to credit you the same amount per kWh that they charge you (we don't ever get money back for generating more than we import, but we do get perpetual credit for any extra we generate, and it has to be 1-to-1 cost for energy we import).
