Love Not Malcolm for having so much moral backbone and a quirky sense of humor to boot. I had done my part a long time ago: Had sent a request for EA to delete my data, deleted my account, and stopped playing the games completely months ago.

As a bonus action, I hid all the ne'er do well companies on Steam so I don't see them on there. As I plan to be on Steam more so (once I can get my grubby mitts on a Steam Machine).

To ease my dread, I played Fields of Mistria on my laptop before bed...As I checked out the inside of my Desktop. As the graphics card wasn't registering. Looked at the BIOS as well. Seems like there was a hardware failure and it can't be saved easily. It would take a lot of effort to save (and money) which means I need to take the damn thing apart and store the parts appropriately until I could do that.

Ugh. What a time for this shit to happen, I can salvage the Ryzen 7, potentially the graphics card as well. As the motherboard is the thing which is truly fucked. Just need to be able to store this thing long term. Need to make a list of all the parts and find a compatible motherboard and case. Since the RAM is still healthy, I could save that as well.

The storage is even great. I could do with a new cooling fan, case, and a few little additions.

Trialed Fields of Mistria on my Laptop and it runs fine. Just gotta see if there are unhinged slowdown during achievements, friendship gains, or doing too much of one thing in the rain. First grocery shopping is in order.

Those issues with Fields of Mistria are due to my desktop being ready to die. As this little indie game isn't that demanding. A bios update isn't going to fix that. I'm going to try on my next days off as I was busy playing games and recovering data. 😅

Something that mildly annoys me about Satisfactory...Is that I can't change my character's gender. I actually loathe that.

No Man's Sky allows for character customization and it doesn't mess with the story in the slightest. Need to look into why Coffee Stain Studios chose to lock the gender of the character (I think that I forgot about this). Sadly, I lost interest in the game now. Can't envision myself as a woman in a video game, so I won't play.

This does not mean the game is bad or anything, not by a long shot. As the potential for building complex supply chains and factories was looking to be pretty hype. Oh well, another in the DNF.

@hwll Indeed, there are vectors of attack that can be used to tackle these nasty companies...I am certain that "Shai-Hulud the Third" is plan to exploit that weakness through this test run. It doesn't seem like this person is specifically after end users who don't use LLMs. Though end users might catch strays, naturally, because attacks on this scale need to be very specific and precise in order to avoid normal, non-LLM using end users.

Wow so Bitwarden CLI got hacked for about 90 minutes yesterday, through a very novel method. This malicious actor has hatred for LLMs (same Queen or King).

So they were using a worm introduced by the novel method to target keys associated with LLMs and other valuable keys. Very scary and sophisticated.

The normal version of Bitwarden wasn't affected, and of course the malicious altered version was depreciated so it can't spread. Still fascinating in a horrifying way.

The Sisters of Sound mini-field trip was a good one. I got some good recommendations on sturdy record players. Found 3 CDs that sounded right: Queer as Folk soundtrack, Johnny Lang "Turn Around", and Goon Moon "I Got A Brand New Egg Layin' Machine". The fun part about physical media is discovering new music is powered by WHIMSY and a small push of luck. Oh no, a new fixation of physical media is being born on this day! Today, I am continuing to learn more about pointers and arrays, I will try to stick with it for an hour so that I can get familiar enough to do some more learning at home. My appointment went well, she recommended a new medication for me that will help sort out the hyperactive dreams...Which have been disrupting my sleep. The good thing about the medication in question, is going to reduce my appetite. I need that as I want to lose weight (I'll just have to stop being a quirked up POC dude when it comes to getting hyper-fixated on getting stuff done). As eating IS important, but, I don't want to do it as much as I do now. The drug in question is (checks Doc notes) topiramate. Might want consider calling my pharmacists to make sure they do the refill. Still might stop by Sisters of Sound before going back home...As I am feeling decent enough about being social to get into a new place and not feel a deep pit of dread in my soul about a visit! I can even go there tomorrow so that I could buy more CDs. #today

Walking and vibing, thinking about the next steps with my weekend goals. Like redoing my whole music collection (sorting through digital and re-adding songs from CDs). I'll be trying to build a physically available collection for my music as digital is less appealing to me after my experiences with that medium. Thanks Apple and Google for being the cunts ya are. ROFL

If possible, I'll get these CDs locally, pouring money into the community first. Then looking online for CDs.

Learning, writing, gaming are things on my list too.

It makes me wonder how fast Garuda Linux (Arch-based) goes in terms of updates in comparison to vanilla Arch. Yeah, Snapper is easier to understand once you do more reading. I find using Snapper intuitively is easy...But understanding how it fully works from a technical perspective will take time ROFL.

@wendigo@metalhead.club Snapper is initially daunting, to use as it is only a system partition backup tool...It has saved my bacon more than once, let me use my system to fix a problem caused by either myself or a bad update. ROFL I like that it takes little snapshots before a change is made, and after a change is made. So a user can see all the changes that were made in each snapshot and figure out what might have went wrong (if something did). If I ever need to troubleshoot, I'll keep Kernel updates as a potential cause as well!

OMG This is not a drill, 1.22.0 of Vintage Story has dropped! This is going to interfere with my Artix Linux configuration journey because...I have been craving this latest release for months now.

It adds so many new features like reworked Tool Smithing, Fishing, Water Wheels (a new form of mechanical power). Ugh, I wish I could be absent from work today to dive deep into it!

However, I'll be a very patient man and wait till after my shift is done and I get home to play.

Unlike CachyOS, Artix Linux installed successfully for the first time! Ran my first "sudo pacman -Syu", updating my laptop's packages. A bummer is that I will need to do some additional config work that is outside of my range of effort for tonight. It will require a day of work to get it done. Flatpak will be my first hurdle, but once that is done...It will be easier to get some familiar stuff installed. I'd like to avoid installing the "artix-arch-support" package. Gonna back up my shit and get started on the Artix Linux adventure! Don't have much on that Laptop anyway...

Really the only other set-up thing which is required is to turn off secure boot because, that seems to cause issues for most Linux distros. I've already used Balena Etcher to create the bootable drive.

I might install Artix on my laptop tonight to exorcise that code, if it takes too long, the config will pick up after waking up. Runit feels really novel to me right now, as I've only used Systemd. Thankfully, the GUI installer will take care of the nitty gritty. In the future if I need to fix something, there is useful documentation to lean on.

#WritersCoffeeClub 18: Does your writing ever get away from you? (plot bunnies…?)

In rough drafting, of course it does, goes wild and crazy. A lot of ideas are thrown at the wall...As rough drafts tend to be like this for me, a plan is only established once I've decided it is time for editing.

As I've been changing up my writing style and it has helped me quite a bit. I do try to have at least a small outline that highlights some important events to touch upon. Other than that, I allow myself to go a bit wilder with rough drafts.

The editing is when order and structure needs to happen, rough drafts need to be fun, and like an overgrown garden, waiting for a thorough tending.

After much thought about Artix Linux, I found a plasma graphical install with runit. I can install that on my laptop this weekend, as I will need hands on experience with Artix before deciding if it is main Mr. Computo ready or not. The Laptop on the Side, he is my tester of Linux distros.

I cannot wait to initiate this plan. I am sad that it will be a temporary parting from Solus OS because that custom distro is so fucking good.

I might put that on Mr. Computo, once I see what direction openSUSE is heading in regards to age verification.

Tonight, after work, I plan on learning more C. As I have been doing relatively well since hopping back on the wagon. On my main PC, I've decided that any learning will happen in Sway, and KDE is for fun!

Distinctions matter, as it will give me a rudimentary schedule and routine to follow is important. Structure and consistency, will make a learning experience easier over time.

Checking in on Vintage Story for 1.22 and it seems like the 1.22.10 Release Candidate is still fixing more issues (which is good). I'll continue to wait until 1.22 stable is released to generate a brand new world!

That Italian villa has been on my mind for a while now, been sketching different iterations of it for a while now. Just outlines and how tall and wide it would be.

I've also planned to build the thing no more than 55 blocks away from a rudimentary wilderness homestead (this will support my general survival until moving into the villa would be possible). I'll also build it as a place that could serve as a bit of environmental storytelling for the lore of my new Vintage Story save. It will be like a hermit's home, hidden by trees in a clearing…

Also I need to reach the Tin Bronze Age; the materials I want to use for the villa require that tier of tool! So this will require some somewhat sophisticated set-up. As I know more about the day to day gameplay of Vintage Story, it shouldn't be too hard!

@powRSS I want to read human made content, I think LLM usage not only removes the human element to a written work, it also helps to train those models. We all know those techbro jerks are listening in and trying to capture the essence of creativity (that they legitimately lack). Involving LLMs in any stage of writing is honestly going to create a milquetoast product, not worth my time to read. AI;DR (AI, didn't read) is a trend, I will flat out avoid RSS that don't filter that tat out of their sources. It's okay to write about a topic and not get it perfect the first time, that is what feedback from real humans can help improve over time! Be a bit messy, but write with the desire to communicate an idea as truthfully and authentically as possible!

@wendigo@metalhead.club Yeah that would be one way to effectively get THC in your system...The THC vapes and weed itself is still illegal in Kansas (the farm bill of 2018 is a loophole for drinks, which is weird). Right now that would be my only means of attempting ingestion while complying to the law. Given we are all different in our biological processes, some methods of intake would be more or less effective. I don't like the idea of vaping or smoking, as both irritate my lungs, even normal vape exhalations from others sends me into a coughing fit. @slanderoid@goblin.camp

I use a scale of: As a man, could I wear programming socks and a skirt to this location?* Oftentimes, the answer cannot reach a quantified yes or a barely yes. Due to the fact in transit, the level of danger or safety is in even greater flux. *(No, this isn't actually my egg beginning to crack. I do find it surreal that if a man exercises the freewill to wear a skirt, colorful stockings, and cute shoes in public...That gets a disproportional and often hostile reaction. About 4 or 5 utility trucks had a flash mob outside of my apartment building; they were inspecting a utility pole making use of at least two trucks with two people in each basket. It was like a dance of inspectors going like, "This is a nice pole!" after great contemplation and maneuvering around every facet of the pole in question. The "nice pole" part is purely part of my fanciful brain being 1000% silly.

This is why I like being a night owl, as I can notice these curious, nocturnal gatherings. Making note of them for the day walkers!

My Dying Light: The Beast tourist trip is going really well...I almost have the completed Rogue Armor Set (this will allow me to finally deal with some of those Volatile Hives that are hanging about).

It's fun to follow some guides, and do the work to reach the locations that have secrets in them! I often generally just follow directions to the place and figure out the area myself.

Often setting out during the start of the day to give myself the most time to succeed on one of these guided adventures.

I think after collecting all the lore, collecting all the weapons, clearing two Volatile Hives, and finishing the two remaining side quests. I'll have had my fill of the game. Unlike Dying Light, and even Dying Light 2...There's no strong incentive to keep playing. Dying Light: The Beast.

Sometimes, other times they are futile struggles that end up being fairly grim endings.

If it is going to be happy, the story is often a hard fought battle for a happy outcome. As life isn't always fun or ideal, if the characters can make the best choices...Perhaps they won't have to give up too much to get that better ending!

Stories related to love tend to have the happier outcomes, because, I feel gay dudes need a bit of joy (despite going through some hell to get their slice of good/creamy ending).

Hmm, I think that I will take a field trip in Dying Light: The Beast and snag some weapons that I missed on my first run!

I have saved a list of things to do, and will be doing throughout this mini-field trip around the game world. Can't wait to get everything that I managed to miss in my hurry to beat the game as fast as possible!

Found out where the config file for sway is located, that is good! However, I am not confident enough to change the 24-hr time to 12-hr time. As I did find some people who managed this, but they didn't write the change in the standard format found in the sway config file. It left me scratching my head, as I am not used to the style that Sway utilizes at this time. Resulting in my closing the config file and going back to hunting for a default reference to writing that change...As that will boost my confidence and allow me to complete my desired change. This is a problem that I can solve, it's just a matter of grinding at it for a bit. #SwayWM #Linux

I am currently attempting to use SwayWM, and it is going pretty well...I just need to locate the config file so I can make some changes because the 24-hr clock is driving me up the wall! I did find that win+d opened a program launcher (which sees all the apps I have installed).

So far, I am not having the best of luck...I think that I can succeed at doing something as basic as changing a .config file (he says, deeply uncertain and distractedly).
