I'm a bumbling amateur with an abundance of curiosity. I work in a machine shop. I read books (mostly science fiction), drink coffee, listen to metal, and when I have a spare minute, I go on adventures.
I can usually be found crawling around in nettles, brambles, and thistles because that is where the wild things are.

I have been enjoying the works of Erling Mørch for years. I haven't been able to afford buying any, so gazing enviously whenever I found some of his works on display was it. This years holiday on Mols as per usual involved a visit to gallery Grevelsgaard. They have a few larger Erling Mørch pieces displayed in the sculpture park and usually a small selection for sale as well. And I always linger. I saw it the second I opened the door. It was so new, it hadn't even gotten a pricetag yet. I had been saving every penny for a new used car, but to hell with it. The scooter will have to suffice for a while longer. #Art #Sculpture #FediArt #Handmade #MastoArt #BuyIntoArt

Jumpers are the most curious little creatures. They really seem to like getting a lift on the tip of your finger to survey the area. When they suddenly disappear from the viewer, the most likely place to find them again is on the camera lens.
Having two competing arachnologists as friends nets me a lot of gorgeous spiders.

I'm fine! Everything is fine.

Yes boss, Ill drink more water and that will fix it.

Certainly boss, I know you have it just as bad sitting in your air-conditioned office.

Sure, boss OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) is dropping, I'll just work faster.

Nah, boss it's okay that I can't come in later and stay longer to avoid the afternoon heat.

Absolutely boss, I know others have it worse. That knowledge really helps.

I'm tired boss. And I have a headache.

The newts in my pond have offspring!
I counted at least ten larvae. I had better go catch as many daphnia as I can get my hands on, I'm not sure the little pond can sustain them all.

The 'gang' and I were out clearing under the electric fence with scythes in a nearby coastal/wet meadow. The farmer who owns it has agreed to put cattle and horses out to pasture if we keep the electric fence from getting overgrown. It is one of the most biodiverse areas on the entire island. This time I found 14 species I hadn't seen before, amongst them this feisty little alien Cerura vinula Hermelinskåbe Puss Moth #Entomology #Insects #Lepidoptera #Pollinators #MothsAndButterflies #iNaturalist #Wildlife #Nature #Conservation

More moths from Soldaterskoven. I noticed a funny thing that I made sure to mention to a fellow bat conservation colleague. I always bring a borrowed bat detector, and for the first hours of mothing mosquitoes are eating me alive. As soon as the detector starts going of the amount of mosquitoes drop sharply. Whether it is because the bats gobble them up really fast or because the skeeters seek cover, I don't know, but it is points in favour of bats as efficient pest management. #Entomology #Insects #Lepidoptera #Mothing #MothsMatter #Pollinators #MothsAndButterflies #WildlifePhotography #iNaturalist #Wildlife #Nature #Conservation

I was going to vent about the mind-numbingly stupid decision-making that led me to think taking an Excel beginner's course would be a good idea.
But my brain is fried. Have some beautiful moths from my mum's garden instead :

It has been a BUSY fortnight!!

My little red Rust-bucket passed the MOT test.

My presentation about moths went quite well, 18 people showed up, and they asked some really good questions, so I almost forgot to be nervous.

I helped put up four bat roosts in a local forest as a stopgap measure until hollow trees become available.

I have been invited back to Kær Vestermark for another year of mothing, and the owner of the forest where we put up bat roosts asked if I would care to go mothing there as well, so that pretty much fills up this season.

In between I still had time to rearrange leaf litter, find critters and smell the flowers. Spring is off to a good start.
