My father in law Silas Attley passed away last night. He was a well respected Cree elder. Born down the line in Sundance Manitoba, eventually moving with his family to Churchill. He lived the life of a hard working family man raising three girls. Most of all he loved to be on the land in and around Churchill which is where we will lay him to rest. He will be missed.

Looks like Rogers is increasing their yearly hockey tax to $344.99/year. Plus I have to pay TSN for world juniors. That's on top of the other streaming bills. Cable cutting has become the bait and switch we all feared it would be. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/rogers-jacking-up-price-sportsnet-again

It seems with climate change rolling forward faster than expected it might not be prudent to anger the people that maintain your lifeboat. Canadians might at some point become far less welcoming after being abused and insulted repeatedly. #ElbowsUp

Prediction: You'll suddenly see wind and solar become darlings of the right when they figure out fossil fuels will never be able to meet the power demands of the AI data centers.

RE: https://mstdn.social/@noelreports/116924203780763037 I have a feeling Ukrainian engineers are going to look at the tech and figure out how to make it 85% cheaper.

Has anyone ever bothered to ask Danielle Smith if she cares so much about the independence of Alberta why does she push for pipelines instead of refineries?

RE: https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/2072367150283563453 I guess that erases any hope that Helly will be back next year. Uggghh Skinner, the goalie that was run out of town in Edmonton. Really? That's the answer? #HNOM #NHLJets

At some point in the near future you won't pay for Google Ads anymore, you'll pay to be "seen" by Google AI.

New Users, if you're on the official Mastodon mobile app Stop ๐. It does not show all the views and confuses most new users. For Android I would suggest Tusky, for Apple I would suggest Metatext or Toot. #NewToMastodon

Tech Bros: Our LLMs are so good that they're dangerous and world changing. Buy our series A. Responsible Govt: Great glad you've admitted that now either accept intense regulation or face nationalization. Tech bros: Wait whaaattt... Of course my fantasy requires responsible government but I find it odd that tech bros are using catstrophisation as a sales tool.

If Jason Kenney can come out in defense of Canada in Alberta why can't Pierre Poilievre? Why can't the national conservative party as a whole? I suspect it's because they're aligned with the separatists in the back rooms and that is soft treason.

I'm sorry but I'm in no mood to hear apologists and how "A majority of people really didn't vote for trump". So does that mean a majority if people really didn't vote for Biden in the last cycle? I'm not hearing it tonight so please stop. I get a lot of you didn't want this to happen but more did..

1/ When you on-board to Twitter, BlueSky, etc, you're asked a series of questions and the algorithm fills your feed with content and then you make decisions on who to follow. When you onboard to Mastodon, etc, your feed is essentially empty and you have start following as many people as possible to fill your feed. You then filter after the fact. I call this clean sheet on-boarding and I prefer it. However this is counter intuitive to the expectations of most people coming from other pl...

๐จ๐ฆ Sovereign wealth fund explainer from CBC. I'm thinking Carney is hoping this is going to be a war bonds style vehicle to funnel money into domestic projects. Let's not forget that a month ago the straight of Hormuz was open for business. So the US government has waged war, killed many people and destroyed all sorts of infrastructure just to get back to where it started. Except now Iran has a clear signal that it absolutely needs to develop a nuclear bomb to ensure its security. It's been said countless times but the US electorate put incompetent assholes in charge and now we all get to reap what they've sown.

A co-worker has access to the same Amazon corporate account and he's like: "I can't understand why this keyboard is $70.00" I looked it up on my browser, same account and it's $56.00. Welcome to algorithmic pricing. This practice needs to be illegal.
