My father in law Silas Attley passed away last night. He was a well respected Cree elder. Born down the line in Sundance Manitoba, eventually moving with his family to Churchill. He lived the life of a hard working family man raising three girls. Most of all he loved to be on the land in and around Churchill which is where we will lay him to rest. He will be missed.

A quick story about Silas. A few years ago there was pair of boys that went on a killing spree across western Canada. They took to the bush around Gilliam and were said to be heading to Churchill. Concerned I contacted him and asked if he was worried. He confidently replied "No, they're dead. That land is too hard even in the summer" A few days later they found them dead by a river. He knew that land better than most.
