  App Store review delays are back to Shoemaker-era levels. Most app reviews seem to be taking 6+ days now — a momentum-crushing delay for a process that has reliably taken 1–3 days for the last 10 years. And this has NOT been a gradual increase since the rise of AI coding across the whole year — it came on suddenly, starting around a month ago. Something over there is on fire, badly neglected, or deeply broken. (Probably all three.) Something has to give. This is unsustainable.

  Rotating a photo in 90-degree increments has GOT to be one of the most common actions people take with their iPhone photos… And yet: - Photos on the phone: Multiple taps, buried in an edit mode, and the whole photo has to slowly “load” first - Photos on the Mac: Command-R on the grid is VERY slow to execute, gives no feedback, and often drops repeated Cmd-Rs instead of queuing them Does everyone at Apple just get photo orientation right on the first try, every time? Why is this so bad?

It just still has a lot of missing or incomplete functionality, and Apple doesn’t seem to be in much of a rush to fill in the gaps. I sometimes wonder how much better macOS could be today if they’d never tried to make the iPad into a Mac replacement, and had focused on maintaining and improving just one great PC-class OS.

  One year ago, I made my first custom 3D-printed bracket with TinkerCAD to hold temperature sensors. Today I'm printing custom parts I made in Onshape, with nice fillets and chamfers, using a tungsten-carbide hardened hot-end, support-interface filament for clean support removal, a smooth plate for a flat bottom surface, and glue for easy removal with zero plate damage.
