@marcoarment@mastodon.social I evaluated a ton of CAD tools and ended up with OnShape as well. Takes a minute to wrap your hard around the parametric, linear process, but once you do it’s fun to use.

@marcoarment@mastodon.social what material? Guessing PETG if you’re being careful with bed adhesion? Bambu printers are so good - I got the x1c during the kickstarter and knew nothing about 3D printing (aside from the concepts), but printing and designing is so satisfying. Just ordered the new x2d as an upgrade!

@marcoarment@mastodon.social very cool! fusion360 is also free for personal use. One thing I don't understand though, I was led to believe by @caseyliss@mastodon.social that when you use Fahrenheit you don't need to worry about decimals. Was I misled?

@marcoarment@mastodon.social it's huge fun doing 3D printing. Next step is a laser cutter (great for allowing you to make larger objects). And then on to Circuit and PCBs (via a service like jlcpcb). Very entertaining!

@marcoarment@mastodon.social would you recommend OneShape to begin a printing journey with my wife? I have veeeery little 3d printing experience, but I have some. She has none whatsoever. I mostly used blender for all my needs but would be happy to move to something more tailored to industrial design rather than modelling.
