@marcoarment@mastodon.social @ryantoken@indieweb.social Can confirm. When I started doing this years ago, my wife was mortified (she always used regular ear plugs), but once I got her to try it, she completely agreed. Better than regular plugs in every way.

@marcoarment@mastodon.social - this has made my kid's school rock-concert-level performances so much more enjoyable. I can pick out individual instruments, voices. I still have very acute hearing and very high frequency range (14kHz), but beginning "old age" type voice processing difficulties in noisy, chatty environments. No more pain from high-quality, but far too loud speaker system. No more ringing in the ears for hours afterwards. I feel much less stressed, only realizing now that it's the loud in loud environments that stresses me out so much. Cast members say that the white with bling AirPods makes it easier to spot me in the audience from on-stage ;-/

@marcoarment@mastodon.social Out of curiosity, have you taken a noise level measurement with your Apple Watch? The shows I attend tend to be VERY loud (think Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, etc) and I’m wondering whether this strat would work for me.

They are famous for their loud volumes (my Apple Watch measure 110 db), and they give you ear plugs at the entrance. They play slow, heavily distorted droning guitar riffs, and it’s almost a physical experience.

@marcoarment@mastodon.social I recently attended a very loud party thrown in an event hall. This was the second party we’d been to at this location and I was dreading having to step outside every hour or so just to give my ears some rest. Then I remembered this advice and, luckily, I had my AirPods Pro 3 in my pocket. It was a COMPLETE game changer. Thank you so much for the suggestion, Marco.
