Almost slept in this morning! Woke up at 7.30 and then drove down to South Shields to meet friends for the #parkrun - made it around in 31:24 despite a strong headwind for the last kilometre and a half. Now for breakfast :) #running #runnersOfMastodon

A new day, a new parkrun, a new...ark? Newark #parkrun this morning , doing a bit of tourism. Friendly course, mix of tarmac (yay) and bark chipping paths (boo). Knocked two minutes off last week's time at my home event, I think at least in part due to the cooler weather. Today's time was 31:27 and I bagged an 'N' for the alphabet challenge. Only six letters to go, but one of them is a 'Q'... #running #runnersOfMastodon

Had a good #parkrun this morning, despite it feeling warm and muggy. Official time of 32:13 which is almost exactly what I got on my watch. Surprised myself on the run - my cadence (steps per minute) was up near 200 for a lot of the run (training paying off) and pace caught me out too. A couple of times I hit 4 minutes something per km without realising, and actually hit 3:48/km during the last 400m. Kept overheating though, which forced me to slow down at times. #running #runnersOfMastodon

Did a "magic half mile" on the #garmin #running training yesterday. Road running on the edge of town. Out for 15 minutes, 4 intervals of cadence training, a "magic half mile" where you're supposed to push yourself but not sprint, and then a ten minute cool-down. The magic part was 800m at 5:17/km (I don't do miles, at least for running). That was hard, but pleased I kept it up without stopping or slowing down - was definitely struggling at the...

Went out for an after-work run with a couple of friends, meeting up at a local supermarket and then doing a 8km loop out along a woodland trail. Did the 8km in a smidge under an hour, at a pretty steady seven-and-a-half minute pace. Honestly I was surprised how relaxed it felt - I was able to keep up conversation the whole way round, and honestly just felt like I was getting into my stride towards the end. Burritos for dinner - I've earned them :) #running #runnersOfMastodon

Just got an email from #parkrun - can't help but read "p.s. fuck off Nike" at the end of this... Is that just me? 🤔

Had a really good #parkrun this morning, finished at 32:04 which is my fastest time this year and fastest time since July 2024. The extra runs in the week are really helping. I had my "Witcher Running" playlist going on headphones today, which helps keep me going. It's mostly fast-paced music from the Witcher 3 soundtrack, but I've found of all the songs on there, it's a silly little tavern dancing tune that speeds me up the most. https://m.youtube.com...

Went out for a run at lunchtime because it was supposed to be clouding over and raining this afternoon and I wanted to beat the weather. It's warm out there. Sheesh! #running #runnersOfMastodon

#parkrun number 230 for me today, managed to take off a little bit of time compared to last week. Had an easy day yesterday so was feeling pretty good this morning, made it round in 31:48 I've been doing some longer runs with friends and that's definitely helping both with speed and stamina. I've lost some weight too, though that's a secondary benefit and not the main thing I'm going for. It's certainly nice to get to the point where I'm...

Out for a bank holiday Monday run, along Rivelin Valley and back. That's it for a few days though, maybe see if I can get out to Oughtibridge again on Wednesday but I'm going to take it easy until then. #running #sheffield #runnersofMastodon

One of my favourite DM tools at the #ttrpg table is a cheap set of kid's egg timers that I can use any time we need to ratchet up the tension or focus on a time-critical task. Often it isn't an all-or-nothing pass or fail, sometimes I like to escalate the situation with each turn of the timer. I ordered these online for just over a fiver, but they're worth their weight in gold. My players may disagree, of course ;)

First #parkrun with the new #garmin, which was really useful for keeping an eye on pace and helped me spot when I needed to speed up, or (more rarely) was going too fast. Finished at 33:56 although the official time was 34:01 (robbed!) Within seconds of last week's time, and I think this week's training runs have definitely paid off. Found if I focused on my breathing it made it easier to ignore the complaints from my stupid legs. #running #runnersOfMastodon

Another weekend, another #parkrun - Rising Sun this week, just outside Newcastle. Really liked this one, extremely friendly and mostly flat over country and woodland trails. Would definitely do this one again if the opportunity came up :) #running #runnersOfMastodon
