Transition doesn't, unfortunately, solve all your problems, and sometimes there may be things going on outside of your control. It can make you want to solve them, but it's a rough world - even for untraumatized cishet people, let alone queers with heavy trauma.

This is kinda refreshing. Despite the title it's worth a watch! https://youtu.be/8QScpDGqwsQ A couple of years old though.

In the great commons at Gaia's Landing we have a tall and particularly beautiful stand of white pine, planted at the time of the first colonies. It represents our promise to the people, and to Planet itself, never to repeat the tragedy of Earth. @JoscelynTransient@chaosfem.tw yes I keep having to go back and Purge art I added to my lists before I was good at spotting it

Medicine rebels against disease. Art rebels against mundanity, banality and fear - giving voice to our dreams and passions. Religion rebels against hopelessness, fear and death. Engineering rebels against physical limits. Science rebels against ignorance. Your telling me we can't fucking overthrow ~2200 billionaires? Your telling me we can't overthrow capitalism - not even as old as the USA? LOL, fuck that shit, bitches doomed.

I am still resentful that everyone who is born will grow old, grow sick and die. I would like to request a new universe. One where metaphysics and spirits and beauty and justice are real, and not things we invent for ourselves to make meaning.

I still say this song has to be the closest to the meaning of life that I've heard. It reminds me of things that @JoscelynTransient@chaosfem.tw told me once when I was spiraling. You have to appreciate life and make the most of every moment. https://youtu.be/8cfGLKgT8S8?si=tXdwai5btLItjHUZ

500 years ago, trans men and women were common enough in Portugal that they wrote plays about us, made comedies about us - compared Achilles to us. Ancient Greece did the same thing. We walked the streets alongside Shakespeare. We walked the walls of Ur. We were in London a thousand years before feminism even existed. The Indus River Valley civilization - Harappa - had 1500 years of peace, and all we know about them is they kept figurines of transgender people in their high places. We do not...

I feel like the weakness of science and liberal education is, the more I learned about the universe, the greater my understanding of its vastness, functionality and wonder, but the less it felt like home, or a place worthy of being home.

The thing I have the hardest time with, is the notion that instead of the universe being beautiful, or having a purpose, or some greater meaning... Is that there isn't any meaning. That we just made all that meaning up to avoid facing death. That every conciousness is infinitely precious and beautiful, and all 50 billion humans estimated to have existed over the past two million years were just...snuffed out. Along with every octopus, dolphin, whale. Every transgender Roman, every child i...

We have writings from the 1880s where trans women in NYC talk about how every city in the world of any size, has a community of people like them. I just want you to think about that. About how much was lost. How much of what we are doing now will be forgotten in a 1000 years, by trans people being told they are new?

One other problem that breaks my heart - when I read Buddhism as a college student, I realize I read into it what I wanted. I didn't understand how different the branches were, and focused on writings of the Buddha without really...looking into what the actual Buddhist religions around today believed? I think I was also more comfortable with ambiguity. But looking at it now - very, very few modern buddhist groups teach anything REMOTELY like continuity or continuation or ....anything resem...

I don't know why everyone isn't constantly panicking over human mortality all the time. I guess because everyone agrees not to think about it. Or we think we have forever. That's a lot easier when you're young.

its absolutely amazing how many of my former religious friends, whether they be Christain, Buddhist or "spiritual" or whatever - all atheists. all atheists. I tried talking then, to older people - and most told me what I heard here: death is just something you face and accept. face and accept. I want the world to be enchanted. There is magic in drops of rain. Wonder in the burning of stars. There is joy in the fireflies, the dew on trees. Hope in the laughter of children. I want...

The USA seems to need a minority to hate at all times. It hates all minorities, anyone who strays from cishet patriarchal whiteness, but it always needs at least one minority, one "special" minority, to forge its Empire. And into this minority it pours its cruelty, its malice, and its will to dominate all life... One democracy to rule them all... Wait, wrong franchise. ...or is it?

I feel like what I'm going through right now is going to be more than my therapist can hold space for tomorrow, and I'm not really sure what to do with that. I could at least explain it in words - last week I tried poetry and they seemed a mixture of angry, frustrated and apologetic. I don't know that therapy can really help me with what I'm facing: which is the nature of reality and the meaning of life and trying to not despair in the face of hard truths.

Here's a more productive question than my endless 'existential dread' lately: What makes for a meaningful life? What can we do in this life to make the living worthwhile? Secondary question: What makes you feel not alone? Does anyone else feel alone most of the time, even when they are objectively NOT alone?

I turn on Facebook or YouTube and see kids who are 22 or 23 talk about being late bloomers because they didn't transition until they were 21. God I feel so ancient. I didn't even think about this before 38, 39. I'm 43 and I don't feel like I've done a lot with my transition and I'm not sure what else I could have done. I slightly regret my orchi - suddenly, it sounds nice to have kids. I didn't really make real life friends until just literally THIS YEAR, despite ye...

oh to live in a universe where a plucky band of heroes can, with magic and sorcery, challenge the forces of the dark god, get strength from the spirits of the fallen, slay the dark god, and restore peace.

So something I've seen on facebook a lot in wierd onliney discord groups - and a little bit on here, and I think they are related. (note: not calling anyone out) I've seen pushback against two things, and I think they are really the same thing. The first thing is, I've seen very young queers on Facebook pushing back against the idea that queer is cultural - that you can choose to be queer. Decrying the idea that there are some gay people who are not queer, and some straight people...
