500 years ago, trans men and women were common enough in Portugal that they wrote plays about us, made comedies about us - compared Achilles to us.
Ancient Greece did the same thing.
We walked the streets alongside Shakespeare. We walked the walls of Ur. We were in London a thousand years before feminism even existed. The Indus River Valley civilization - Harappa - had 1500 years of peace, and all we know about them is they kept figurines of transgender people in their high places.
We do not remember them, but we are not separate from them.
