existence is precious and being alive is astonishing. We are alone; an island of life, temporary sparks of light in an infinity of darkness before and after us. We burn the light of this planet so a few men can warm themselves on its ashes. we spend our days in misery in corporate prisons, while the birds and the trees live lives of wonder, and the ocean speaks of secrets forgotten for a billion years. and someday we will be memories the trees and oceans carry, when the earth has reclaimed the bones of our cities and our lives are dust in the bones of creatures not yet evolved.

another world is possible, another world is coming. whether it is a world of life or death we will not live to see. but the oceans will be here regardless, and the sun will still burn hot in the sky.

sometimes, i wish I had never learned science, and had studied something sensible, like art, so I might have more wonder and mystery, and less answers to questions that break me. we all start out our journeys assuming the road is dark and long, and the end is sunny and bright, and it never occurs to us the dark road is what we have to draw meaning from

(hitch hikers - I'm guessing you are probably old enough to have read it) "if life is going to exist in a Universe of this size, then the one thing it cannot afford to have is a sense of proportion." I wish I could help you more with your existential crisis - perhaps if we lived in the same country but you'll get there!!
