A. was very supportive of my going on HRT. Her only worry was I'd be all emotional - and while I am a bit ;-) that part is fine What perhaps neither of us expected was the close parallels between her perimenopause and my HRT & shared experiences She's starting to fiddle with her treatment DIY style now (honestly the treatment from the NHS is just shite and so gatekeeper-y) & wants to watch me do my injection on friday :-)

apparently Openai struggling with ad revenue... looking forward to product placement in LLMs: "ChatGPT - my car is broken what do I do?" "Well, first of all sit down with a nice cold Coca-Cola..." can't fail

Currently re-reading the Wolf Hall trilogy. Henry VIII was a very trump like character- kind of fascinated that the vast majority of courtiers (ie people in his close orbit we know the names of) ended up executed. (& some that survived were executed by subsequent monarchs) The idea of being so lured by power that even knowing it's odds on you will be killed for it - it's somehow still worth having? can't really get my head around that

this whole "you can't make jokes about someone who is dead" and in particular the tone of those posts indicate a very unhealthy relationship with death dying doesn't make you a good person (& goodness knows I can tell you - having been _right_ up to the precipice - I didn't sort my life out until after that!) dying is a NORMAL thing that happens to ALL of us (& everyone we know) death isn't a magic state of grace

fed up of middle class white men opining about things that don't effect them "Oh I think Starmers doing an acceptable job in a difficult situation" NO he's waging war on trans people, non white people, disabled people, poor people, people with mental health requirements he's made our lives VERY much worse if you don't give a fuck about other people that's fine but do realise everyone can see that and values your views accordingl...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@DrALJONES/116459560434179995 maybe *I* will review my position on the UK's claim to the Falkland islands...... (I mean...what? this has real "I'll tell the teacher you did a big fart" energy. Unless I guess he plans to invade somewhere (Falklands? UK?) to change things - which is not beyond the realms of possibility sadly )

RE: https://mastodon.scot/@fionaorkneynews/116452914474424248 I visited the tomb of the eagles at the turn of the century - was January & I'm pretty sure I was the only tourist on Orkney at the time. Got to have loads of these sites to myself. I arrived at the seemingly random farmhouse with the tomb of the eagles and a chap came out to see me. I now realise that was Ronald Simison himself!!! he took me into his conservatory and showed a load of find. Then he said walk to a lo...

I've always had a weird dysphoria about my male body hair - for a long time preferring a beard to having to shave but starting HRT prompted me to get rid of it & now, until I have the time/money for laser, I need to shave my face the safety razor is turning out to be quite good - now the "learning wounds" have mostly healed!! (Although shaved my legs with it - took 20 minutes to stop bleeding :-( ) pleased the HRT has, faster than expected, sorted out mo...

I mean our whole government are a complete vacuum - I'd accuse them of being power hungry but they are also so incompetent they don't seem likely to actually hang on to it - I presume they've settled for a few years of feeling important it's not just Starmer that needs to go - it's every single last one of them Didn't the Belgium's not have a government for a while - couldn't we try that?

RE: https://sauropods.win/@futurebird/116300799324105148 I think the whole "young people are baffling" thing is a lot less there now than it used to be When I still drank the odd young person got "lectures" about this - including one poor young punk (With an ace mohawk) in a bar in Glasgow that got an extended rant about why him liking the pixies and other bands I had been into when they were new wasn't good enough ;-) poor chap

the whole "ai" race to IPO is very telling - take the money and run before people work out it's nowhere near as valuable as claimed (not saying it has no value - I think it will turn out to have but honestly - where are these companies or even people leaving me behind 'cos I'm not on the bandwagon - for a lot of people that like shouting at us all for not taking part they are suddenly very quiet about their amazing success.....)

saw a couple of clips of the HP thing - they've just remade it? with the same look, costumes, etc? and people that mostly look like the original characters? weird - all moral stuff aside (don't fucking watch it , don't give that bigot ANY money) - what is the point?

ok - quantiser is fully working! and I seem to be able to work again - bit of a mini burnout there I think - ugh NEED to get this bloody app out! but the end is in sight now modulate-able quantiser with custom scales IS as fun as I hoped. If you drive the notes really fast you can get some chip-tuney nonsense going on too! (when I come to a final tweak of control ranges might lean into that a bit more)

New Music "The other night, some what strangely for me., I awoke from a dream not knowing what it was about but instead filled with a strange sense of emptiness. I don't remember much of the dream but part of it took part in a field , filled with ceramic tiles. `the field was marked out in park of some kind. One of those dreams that leave you unsettled in the days afterwards - so I made this," https://soundcloud.com/junklight/an-empty-dream-in-the-field-of

RE: https://mastodon.social/@DrALJONES/116307692878307296 If only things that were entirely predictable, and a bit of planning and modelling of scenarios might have suggested were likely, didn't keep happening.... All our history books portray events as being instigated by Very Sensible Men - I feel like we need to revisit it all asking "actually - were they all fuckwits?" 'cos it would explain a LOT

God. Bored of trans people sniping it each other over on Bluesky This is why facism wins. They all absolutely despise each other but they don’t let that stop them from working together

found this interesting set of interviews/articles with or about Éliane Radigue (posted by Jez riley French!!!) https://theleafexplorers.blogspot.com/2020/04/on-eliane-radigue-as-usual-click-on.html I hadn't realised she knew Yves Klein very well (who's work I like very much despite an unsettling feeling that he's probably not that great a person - no evidence for that - just a sense)

ok - just found this in my old tracks. I've been meaning to do something with this for *checks notes* FIVE years!! just shoving it on soundcloud - it _might_ appear on a bandcamp release (the cover image is from this morning - I have no idea how my phone fucked the image up or why - but I rather like it - like when you used to get your pictures back from the chemist and some of them were like WTF?? :-) ) https://soundcloud.com/junklight/bright-landscape
