A pork chop and carrots with my homemade spicy seasoning. I check my tires when they feel soft, or when I remember, or when I am going out for a particularly long ride.

I trimmed a few vines that were driving me crazy to unwind and am having a snack. A1b. I don't specifically check for pressure unless I know that there will be time constraints for when I will be using a bike next. (Leaving early the next morning, for example) Otherwise, I just pump tires when I notice that they're a little low on air. Hopefully I notice while walking the bike around, before I start riding. #BikeNite

Or a multi-hour ride or carrying a heavy load or a passenger. For a 10-block ride to the grocery store or library, I mostly just want to avoid pinch flats or rim damage.

I give them a passing squeeze pretty much every time I get on the bike because I've been able to detect "got a slow leak and it is clearly less firm than it was on my ride in" at the end of the day at work, which is way better than discovering it in the middle of the ride home (in the dark). I fill with my floor pump that has a pressure gauge every Monday to ~100 psi (or whatever the first day of the work-week is that week), though I will occasionally top off on a weekend if I plan on a long ride (by Monday it is usually down to ~80 psi). I'm riding skinny road tires though in 28 mm width (and 25 on the other bike!). #BikeNite

#BikeNite A1: I'm in Burlington, about to drive (!) home. For a while I was checking my tire pressure before every ride. Turns out there was a tiny piece of metal that was mostly plugging the hole it made, so there was a very slow leak. Eventually that became a very fast leak, so I patched the tire and now I don't bother checking unless the tire is visibly soft. @ascentale@sfba.social @nwarner@tenforward.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social #BurlingtonOntario

When I think about it (maybe every fifth ride on my errand-runner, every other ride on the MTB) I squeeze the tires and see if they seem too soft. I never actually check them with a gauge. I do use the gauge when I fill it from the compressor, not when I fill it from a pump.

I asked other riders—they were kinda evenly split between checking tires every day or only once that week.

I check my air and ... I can tell the difference between 'basketball hard" and "pedal hard" pressure :P Sometimes I'll just pedal hard ;) I figured out when I started Riding With The Fast People that if I thought I must be coming down with something because I just didn't have the oomph, my tyres were probly just a tad underinflated.

I've gotten pretty good at estimating the tire pressure by letting my bike bounce over the high threshold of my cabin. Otherwise, I only check it with a pump that has a pressure measurement about twice a month. #bikenite

Prevost where the #wildfire was officially declared out on Wednesday. A1a. I was taught ABC - air, brakes, and chain. And I seldom do. 2-3 times a week, maybe? But when I intend to do something challenging I check everything thoroughly as a delaying tactic.

(About 10 lbs out of 70 for my road bike, about the same out of 40 for adventure/utility bike). The road bike does that overnight, the other bike doesn’t get ridden as much. #BikeNite
