Thanks to that viral post a few weeks ago some of us decided that a rewatch of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is necessary. Just finished The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri (first book in the trilogy), which was a sprawling fantasy in the best way, while somehow mostly taking place in a tiny corner of one city (in the "present day"). Fantasy with its roots in South Asia, so very different from the usual. Just found out I wasted 3 weeks of work, a significant amount of solvent and other reagents because the commercial starting material is not what the bottle says it is to add insult to injury what is in the bottle isn't even clean, there is at least one other thing in there. Hilariously (not really) the only reason I determined this was because I'm making something from the literature and none of my spectra were matching close enough. Went back to the start to check and remade the first...

Me: "For its age this pump looks remarkably clean" Drains oil, puts in a small amount of fresh oil, runs for 30-45 min, drains again and there is a lot of particulate. Would anyone be interested in 150-180 NMRs tubes of "low" or unknown quality? Most of them say "high throughput", some even say "BT-NMR only". Many are unmarked. I could give them a quick clean, but they would need more thorough cleaning to be usable. Probably shipping withing USA only, because I doubt they'd be worth the cost of shipping them elsewhere. Just finished a reread last night of NK Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy and now nothing sounds appealing because nothing can stand up next to that. Reading hangover I guess, I'll hopefully get over it soon. #Bookstodon

Anyone else have an amusing default tag they put on things like paypal transfers so that they don't get flagged for tax purposes (ie: this is a gift, not a payment for services rendered) or potential rules violations (not implying paying for sex work, which is a TOS violation for lots of places)? I mostly use "happy birthday!", which is kind of silly, but serves the purpose of being totally innocuous and unobjectionable. Does seem weird if I have no idea when the person's birt...

Looking for help/specific product. If you have experience with those 5 gallon (20 L) water jugs that go on dispensers, typically upside down, do you have a good, reliable way to seal them for refilling yourself such that they don't make a giant mess when you have to invert them? The internet is full of sketchy looking lids that don't seem like they would work so I'm hoping to crowd source a specific "buy this you won't regret it".

I am somewhat shocked. Someone saw the note! (Also I just dropped off a sample and the instrument is currently frozen with the same error that messed things up Wednesday, do I want to email the center director or one of the NMR student workers? Or just hope they notice and reset it?)

Anyone have a good source for a copy of kpop demon hunters? I'm trying to think of a couple of movies my mom wouldn't have seen that we both might enjoy. She's not usually a cartoon person but she does like musicals so I think it might work.

Just placed an order on poshmark to buy someone's leggings. Because I ripped another pair this morning on the way in to work. This pair might have been partially due to age since it was one of my oldest pairs, but same location which has me really annoyed. I'll have to wear the backup ones I keep at work to go home. They are absolutely hideous and a terrible fabric and don't stretch as well so are kind of too tight in certain areas for someone who bikes a lot,

I need to sign up for something that opens at 8AM this morning, which is very awkward since I'm actually running early/on time enough that I could go make a supermarket stop on the way in to work if I leave shortly, but it means I wouldn't be at my desk until the normal time (9AM). Ahhh.... Wish I knew how likely this was to fill up immediatly.
