@auscandoc@universeodon.com Yes. I have a laundry list of reactions I would like to see, including some knee-jerk ones because I get pissed. But the better choices are to use the work the USA has done to find Canada's pain points, and remove them from the USA's target list by finding them markets other than the USA. And reasonable, measured actions to balance extraction and processing inside Canada. A trio of them are silica→pure silicon, copper, and lithium.

@theantlady@flipping.rocks @ascentale@sfba.social @edd@freeradical.zone Food was the thing I used to mess up the most. Not eating regularly/constantly. Later I got a more relaxed attitude. It was not about about the distance, but the ride. So I might complete 18-24 hours after starting, with stops at restaurants, going to a movie, wandering gardens… A century isn't hard if you are only riding a couple hours then walking/sitting for a couple.

#ActivityPub platform feature want: similar to "no boosts" from accounts followed, do not see their replies to people on domains you have blocked. Presumably, if you have decided an entire domain's worth of accounts should never appear in your feed or receive your own emanations, you have reasons. Which are probably offended seeing an account you *do* follow having exactly the kind of conversation you are avoiding experiencing directly.

If there were any doubt the world is in a hybrid war and global arms race, Fiona E. Murray & Robert Murray's commentary, published in @thejapantimes@mastodon.social today, should put them to rest. Opening with the example of #Canada's transition in WWII from a non-militarized state to "a military-industrial powerhouse," she then proposes a framework for #NATO nations to undergo a similar transition only faster, deeper, more nimble. It is terrifying. This is where we are....

@heidilifeldman It has been 45 years since I went through the military training on lawful orders. But I seem to recall genocide - planning one, ordering one - were special cases in US federal law. They were all capital crimes. Bombers were reported launching from the UK, having been loaded with bombs, in time to be over Iran at the deadline. So there is a plan, and it was ordered. Is my memory of the law accurate?

Amusing scene on the ferry as it approaches the destination terminal: four stair-stepped young women race down the steps, followed by dad with number 5 in-arms, heading to their vehicle. Pause of a few minutes. Then parade goes by again and back up the stairs. Overheard in passing: "the bathroom is on the other side [of the ferry].
