  I've been spending a lot of time this past week learning how to write unit tests for #Python #TkInter GUI apps, something I've been wanting for quite a long time.   Another interesting piece of measurement equipment we happened to notice while #hiking a few months ago. I guess they're measuring how much the stones in old adobe construction pull apart over time, and it's a pretty cool simple piece of kit. It's installed in a ruin that dates to about 1916, that was built with stones from an older 1100s ancestral puebloan #ruin. #NewMexico

  Anyone know how to disable "silver alerts" on Android? Really tired of getting alerts for people who went missing 90, or 150, miles away. Already disabled amber alerts, but there's no setting for silver ones. (Maybe the best answer is to disable ALL alerts; flood alerts for 100 miles away aren't exactly useful either. Is there really no way, in 2026, to limit alerts to the local area??) #cryingwolf

  Today was R/C flying day, but it was awfully windy so I wasn't sure I was going to fly. But when I got to the field it turned out to be occupied with a rather larger #aircraft than our foam models. Turned out the fire dept was doing a training exercise with the medical/search/rescue #helicopter. Fun to watch! Especially when it took off with trainees aboard and then immediately plunged down into the canyon. Wish I'd known it was going to do that so I could have gotten it on vide...
