"Instead of being singled out and scorned in viral videos, Roth, CEO of Vornado Realty Trust, thinks the ultra-rich should be 'praised and thanked' and said calls to tax them more are akin to racial slurs." WTF? link to article: https://www.politico.com/news/2026/05/05/real-estate-titan-compares-tax-the-rich-slogan-to-racial-slurs-00907424 #USPol #TaxTheRich #NYC #Resist

@ahimsa_pdx there’s even some inner logic to that comparison, given that wealth is oftentimes inherited. But given their power and unbelievable ignorance, the race of the super rich is one I’m happily racist against

@ahimsa_pdx "Bitch, a black person can't become white. You can become poor." We aren't shoving these pedophile parasites into the woodchippers quickly enough.

@ahimsa_pdx Yeah, sorry Richie Rich, billionaires are not a race. They are a fucking virus.

@ahimsa_pdx The parallel between race and wealth actually makes a lot of sense. Race is a social construct that clings to individuals inescapably. In a capitalist society, wealth functions similarly. Being born into a wealthy family means social reproduction alone can sustain that wealth—legacy even before inheritance. When you racialized, it's for life. When you're rich, too. What’s striking is his blindness to why people resent those who dominate the system (hint: not the racialized).

@ahimsa_pdx How dare we suggest that absurdly wealthy pay a fair share of taxes given that they reap the most benefit. What a bigoted thing to say or even think. /s

@ahimsa_pdx Ah, yes. For them, "tax the rich" shouldn't be used, it hurts their fee-fees. Let's try "eat the rich".

@ahimsa_pdx Taxes are the negotiated _deal_. I... I don't think they remember. We don't _have_ to tax them. We could just eat them. 👀

@ahimsa_pdx I am gonna put the "being racist to the rich" complaint right into the same trashcan as the "being racist to the AI" complaint.

@ahimsa_pdx Steve Roth is made out of privilege and dogshit. To be fair, there are other slogans about what we should do with the rich that I prefer to "tax the rich." Steve should count himself very lucky.

@ahimsa_pdx@disabled.social @europlus@social.europlus.zone it’s interesting that they see themselves as being a billionaire is an innate thing like skin tone or sexuality, not something they did on purpose with their actions
