  Got a used Apple Studio Display for my wife's workstation, and the specs on these, despite being 4 years old are so funny. Like the _monitor_ has a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU and 64GB of storage built-in and has six-speaker spatial Dolby Atmos support. Wild. It's literally thousands of times faster and has thousands of times more storage capacity than my first computer. 😮

To achieve this, we will have to give everyone access to air conditioning. It's not optional. We already fucked the atmosphere up so much that 45–50ºC temperatures are happening or will happen in most settled places. It's not survivable other than with air conditioning.

  Today I found a open source thing for doing _exactly what I needed_ but then it didn't work and I inspected the source code and found that it uses services that are no longer online. Turns out it was all vibe-coded and the LLM referenced services that are long dead presumably because the training data ends with 2024 or so and it just assumed the services are still up.   There’s a scam going around on PayPal where someone apparently sends you money and then they claim it was a mistake and want a refund etc. Never interact with any of these people and never do what they tell you. Ignore them and report these transactions to PayPal (you might have to speak with a human). If PayPal ignores you, pester PayPal until they don’t.
