How did you initially learn programming? I did with a bad photocopy of the Tandy Color BASIC manual in German but using GWBASIC on a PC with no graphics or color capability. Good but also terrible times!

  • @thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io simultaneously C64 basic and the basic that came with the DOS of the other computer in my family. I soon borrowed all programming related books from library and spent time reading everything I could, mostly not understanding, of course. The moment my family finally got internet access, this gave access to countless compilers and interpreters and lecture notes and articles and such. Good times!

    @thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io a community course for kids, where we learned Basic on C64's. The only time I read any training material willingly and well ahead of where we were in the class. Later, my parents got me my own C64 and the rest is, as they say, history.
