@bflipp@vmst.io I likewise held my ground against RTO policy, and due to my good fortune of having 1) company tenure 2) senior-level experience in a niche field in high demand, 3) sympathetic direct-report managers, & 4) remote hire coworkers to serve as precedent, ...I was grudgingly granted permanent remote status. The remote jobs are out there. Best of luck.

If you're in NYC, Denver or SF, you're expected to be in the office 2 days a week, but it's pretty easy to get exceptions. @bflipp@vmst.io you might try canva.com, they’re remote friendly, use aws extensively and use snowflake (or at least, used to). It was a great place to work when I was there. They’re adding lots of international offices, but used to do a lot of their engineering in Australia, so it’d be worth verifying if remote from your timezone is fine for whichever team you apply for.

Your partner's wellbeing is the priority here. Before considering resignation, I recommend having an open dialogue with HR to request accommodations under the ADA. (1/4)

@bflipp@vmst.io just seeing your timeline, and the thoughts about branding - there's a business opportunity there. What if you've reached out to a half dozen brands that are pumping their Mastodon presences on to random volunteer run instances, and pitch either the idea of hosting of us bespoke one for them (as a service? as an actual employee?) or, better yet, developed a domain like brands.social where you could do a SaaS thing where the whole business model is selling verification and support?

@bflipp@vmst.io I'm so sorry to hear this. Other employers have worked with some caregivers and/or partners to keep working from home even after these policies are implemented. My caregiver, who lives upstairs and shares air all the time with me, has such an arrangement with his company. If you could use tips on wording a request or getting something like this, DM me and I can connect you. He's also in HR, so he knows the ins and outs from their perspective.

@bflipp@vmst.io We’re looking for a few folks at that level to help build out projects involving AWS, Python, SQL, data visualization, machine learning, etc. We work in the legal space, so projects are often related to investigations, compliance, litigations, etc. We’re 100% remote and will stay that way.
