It is exhausting to log in and see yet another otherwise-cool person complaining about #AltText . Y'all realize what you sound like, right? "These damn Blind people, always wanting to know things just because everyone else gets to know them!" "The worst thing about going to the theater is the wheelchair ramps!" "I want doors with barriers you need to Leap over! Fuck short people!" Anyway yes, the biggest problem with Mastodon is that people want to be able...

Giving a hand rn to someone who's a former Sex Worker, which is something we share. People have no concept - If a SW wants to break back into straight work, they have to somehow account for whatever gap/absence the SW represents on their resume, or be prepared to, at best, field a lot impertinent questions and then not get hired. She recently got hired pending bg check. Apparently her SW history precludes her from making fancy coffee, so she lost the offer. So much frustration for her.

@Melezioh My caregiver/best friend owns the house we live in now. It was his first after years of poverty/homelessness and represents a big achievement for him. We have Heavy survivor's guilt though, seeing first-hand exactly how much is saved by owning over renting. It's so frustrating how much luck had to do with how he got it at all. I hate how inaccessible this is to most people.

Warning: Self-Involved Vent to the Void My left arm keeps going numb, vision is doubled most of the time and it's all tied in with neuro problems that are also causing lots of pain. I'm off my psych meds so I can take Different meds for an infection I've had since November. Because timing is everything, one of my partners is also in crisis and we are frequently running into one another's energy, so t speak, interspersed with increasingly desperate apologies. Ther...

Those at fault are pitiless. Those of us affiliated with their power, (white & American) may feel the harms being caused deeply, but be without definitive recourse. We see them tear down opponents like paper and for all our calling, writing, meeting, marching we are stymied. And this is still nothing at all when compared to the lives we are ending. Mere empathy in these times feels empty. We can sit and cradle our broken hearts, or we can use them as fuel to keep us searching for answ...

It's now 'cool' to post photos and videos of death but I remember when it wasn't and that was awesome because survivors didn't get retraumatized and also algorithms didn't have the chance to spotlight violence against Black and Brown people in a bid to desensitize viewers to it. I wish people just didn't want to see it. I'm working on a timeline-switching portal but I'm stuck on the quantum differential equations and I can...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@SeanCasten/116539036886821964 "Chief Justice John Roberts says pixies live in his ears and tell him how to write decisions." - What I feel could replace virtually any quote by literally any of these people, without altering its accuracy or relative functional impact. 'Pixies Favor Trump!", the rightwing press would trumpet! "Is the Debate Over Pixies Too Divisive?!", the liberal press would respond. And on we...
