Spending 2 weeks with my mom literally destroys me for a month.

Just grabbed a cheapish rowing machine online. Can't stay healthy doing any of my normal routines at this point. Have to remove basically all impact from my workouts unfortunately. At least for now. Its a weird spiral. I've been injured so much and so frequently in the past 3 years or so that I'm now more prone to injury. It's awful.

I can't wait to finally see Backrooms in theaters even if a part of me wishes we just got another "Found Footage" installment on Youtube instead.

This is frustrating. I built extensive monitoring and alerting procedures for the majority of our data platform. So today we got a slew of failures overnight. Everyone scrambles to figure out the issues and do nothing but spin out with zero clue what’s happening. Every single member of the team has put a rule on the alerts so they never see them. Then when issues come up if Claude can’t fix it for them they have no idea because they aren’t looking at the alerts that tell them exactly what...

Snowflake doesn't do anything a well designed and provisioned postgresql database doesn't do. As a platform its such a gigantic waste of money and resources.

I'm going to hazard a guess that all that HA/DR infrastructure I've built over the past year is going to all be rolled back to save money any week now.

If you run your Google searches through DuckDuckGo Google's results are still substantially better than DuckDuckGo's Bing fed results once you scroll down to the actual links. #google #duckduckgo #bing

I want to be inside the brain of someone who’s so gadget brained they are excited about Microsoft hardware announcements. Like wtf is wrong with you that it all doesn’t send you running away screaming?

I've been told that I'll be required to return to the office several days a week starting this month. I have a vulnerable partner who would likely not survive #covid. I am fighting this but it would be irresponsible of me to not start interviewing. If you have a remote data engineering or architect opportunity, preferably Senior to Principal level, I can provide my resume. I have a ton of #Snowflake and #SQLServer experience as well as over a decade building in #AWS. #fedihire...

RE: https://twitter.com/Chiefs/status/2047817247650189496 Are they mean-mugging or did they get a look at what has been reviewed as the worst locker room and facilities in the league and realize they had it better in college?

roughly $1300 to resurrect my behemoth server and get it into the rack. Not sure I want to do that just yet. Rack mount cases are so expensive. And so are PSUs that can run multiple GPUs.

Framework 13 pro looks really really nice. And you can get it with Ryzen AI instead of Intel too.

Finally found a torrent of Nine Inch Noise at Coachella since I was too dense to setup a capture upstairs and just watched live in my living room. Maybe one of my favorite NIN performances ever. I can't put it over Lights in the Sky since I actually saw that live... but this overall performance plus the remixed tracks plus Mariqueen singing backing vocals was just amazing.

I wrote a small utility 4 years ago for a group of very non-technical users at work. It basically just automates some file moving and renaming operations among other things for them. Stuff that would take literal hours if done by hand. Forgot all about it. Got a message this morning from one of the users asking for new features. Apparently they've been using this the entire time. I had no idea. They want it expanded to take on some new functions. Pretty wild. I had forgot I even did this...

I've never properly watched all of Voyager or Enterprise. Basically just checked in for the big two parters and season finales when they aired because I found both shows colossal wastes of time to sit through. I'm thinking with how poorly I'm receiving the story telling in current Star Trek it might be a good time to revisit the shows that originally killed the franchise for me. Maybe in comparison they will seem...passable. Maybe. #startrek

After running TrueNas for a while now I'm considering only using it for storage going forward. I think I'd rather have something else running Proxmox or maybe just Debian with some containers running all my home hosted stuff. Maybe do a 40gb DAS setup between the app server and storage. I am not a fan of the "app store" model for maintaining external services. In TrueNas they're frequently several versions behind and I can set up this stuff myself with...
