@katemorley That is hilarious Kate. However, no man is going to pay attention to a romance novel titled Rebecca Solnit by Men Explain Things to Me and Other Essays. Author names are just getting ridiculous nowadays. /s

@katemorley Did you whack him with it?

@katemorley stand by for men explaining how they would yell at or hit men explaining things to them.

@alice@lgbtqia.space 2026-05-01 17:21
@katemorley good book 🩷 Sadly, I think you have to hit guys like that with it before they'll notice anything.
-
@aimaz@mstdn.social 2026-05-01 17:23
@katemorley maybe he imagined a comma after “men”.
-
@Tak@gush.taks.garden 2026-05-01 17:22
@katemorley maybe also a coffee mug you could casually sip from

@energisch_@troet.cafe 2026-05-01 17:34
@katemorley most likey such books only bring success if you hit those men on their most precious brains or the center of their egos. (Softly, don't do damage, or all hope will be lost)

@Rozzychan@fandom.ink 2026-05-01 17:36
@katemorley Maybe they talk because they imagine they see a comma in the book title. Men, Explain things to me. And they say, okay.

@katemorley looks like a hardback. How did you restrain the urge to twat him with it?

@katemorley How does your *employee* not understand the feedback from his *boss* after the 2nd telling?
-
@kimlockhartga@beige.party 2026-05-01 18:06
@katemorley please tell me there was no addition of "Sweetie . . ." because that has often been added in my experience, when anyone mansplains something to me.

@heathborders@hachyderm.io 2026-05-01 18:58
@katemorley I bought the book bc of this post
-
@yakmacker@society.kalli.st 2026-05-01 19:05
@katemorley Yeah, men love explaining things to women that already know it, probably because they think it makes them seem impressive. It's called "mansplaining" /s

@katemorley I don't know why I am still astonished at things like this...umm....he's your employee and still thinks....yeah. So exhausting. I was once mansplained my own talk at a big event, moments after stepping off the stage. There were a couple other speakers, and he somehow didn't recognize me as the person giving my talk. Even though I was the only speaker who was a woman. He kept repeating my own talk to me. Even though I was there in the room, let alone having just given the talk.

@katemorley I'm sorry to say I have a bad habit of explaining things that excite me to anyone who stays still long enough even if they know more about it than me. I might of been an excitable Labrador in a past life.

I read the post-content and half expected the post to have been authored by Rebecca Solnit until I noted that @katemorley@hachyderm.io wrote it 😆

@katemorley@hachyderm.io @neko@aus.social He had to get it through his thick skull by explaining it to someone else.
