RE: https://mastodon.social/@WTL/111830125324924192 This silly book as a prop I had made for a scene that needed a couple of self-help books. It will pop up from time to time and I think… if I actually wrote a self-help book, I think that is what I'd title it.

Rolling the dice; exporting a three hour 4K video on battery power. Will my trusty MacBookPro finish before cratering the battery?

It's amusing when you do a search for some information on something and the first link is to a blog post you wrote nearly twenty years ago… (https://leroux.ca/the-35-email-tax/)

Power flickered here enough to make the three UPS' at my desk chirp in protest. Everything seems fine, but … weird. 🤷🏻

Tuesday #Workout: 10 minutes of yoga. 10 minutes of strength training. 6.9 KM of #Walking (light rain shower, 19°C, 99% humidity, and 13 KM/H wind). Another tough morning. Got the yoga and strength done and then the Idon'twanna hit hard, but managed to drag myself out for at least a walk in the rain. So many trees down in Ottawa. I keep finding more in my neighbourhood.

Today marks the ten year anniversary of a young man being shot on our street. I go past the spot pretty much every day, and think about him often. It sometimes feels like yesterday and forever ago at the same time. #MentalHeath https://leroux.ca/the-blood-on-my-hand/

(Late) Saturday #Workout: 9.7 KM of #Cycling (Haze, 26°C, 28 humidex, 39% humidity, with a 18 KM/H wind). Another day of cycling to #FestivalLife - could see & smell the smoke, music went smoothly for our teams, and then rode home with @TAV@mindly.social. We're both looking forward to Monday a day off from everything … to catch up on regular work. 🤣

One thing I've noticed by people who use apps to crosspost to a bunch of services; most of them don't seem to actively participate *here*, they're just like/boost-farming. Do you *enjoy* having that type of user in your feed? #AskFedi #Poll #ThingsIWonderAbout

@BlakeHamiltonCA@mstdn.ca That image is obviously AI generated and anyone should have caught all the problems with it. For water to be that high on Wellington, the Ottawa river would have had to have flooded 80-ish metres high,a disaster that would affect the entire Ottawa Valley. Why didn't you use one of the *many* photos of the *actual* flooding rather than slop one up? Is the article also AI generated?

Picked my first lock while watching a John Wick film this evening. Shout-out to @alice@lgbtqia.space for the gentle encouragement and support. It's not *easy* yet, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. [Edit: extra details here: https://mastodon.social/@WTL/116827193562445599]

I've noticed an influx of new people posting to #Running and wanted to say this: How fast, slow, or far you run isn't as important as you are making time for yourself to be active. In the world today, that is one of the most important things. If you're injured, like I am (grrrr), there are other activities you can do to get back to running. The community here is second to none. Cheering, kindness, and support. 🖖🏻🎉 #ParkRun #RunnersOfMastodon

Sunday #Workout: 10 minutes of yoga. 13.3 KM of #Cycling (10°C, 64% humidity, and 22 KM/H wind, gusts to 32 KM/H). Good morning of laying around, reading, with some yoga thrown in, then a windy bike ride to brunch with @TAV, and now, settling in for an afternoon finishing up our #StarWars marathon.

Save the date, #Ottawa: Saturday May 30, we're having a #Fediverse meetup, starting around 13:00 at Vincent Massey Park (https://www.openstreetmap.org/?#map=19/45.379383/-75.697394), picnic area Q. It is <1km walk from the Carleton University O-Train station, has parking, and is accessible by recreational paths too. Come meet some local folks from the community here, bring your own snacks, plan to pack your trash back out. Out-of-towners welcome! Additional details will appear...

Saturday #Workout: 5 x 5 minute strength training as tea steeped. 4.7 KM #Cycling with the Kidical Mass ride(5°C, 84% humidity, & 10 KM/H wind). 13.0 KM of regular cycling. Not sure if I'll include grabs of the movement snacks in the future as they seem to pile up, with one more imminent when I finish typing this for my last tea of the day. Kidical Mass ride was fun, I toodled along at the back of the pack, so once we finished the loop, I continued along my way, picking some...

@alice@lgbtqia.space Q; I recall reading you saying there was a possibility of an "Alice" Red Team Tools lockpick kit - any idea if that's a long (2 months+) way out? Or am I mis-remembering something?

Hey #Ottawa! How would you like to have a #Mastodon of Ottawa meet-up on Saturday, May 30th, with a rain day of Sunday the 31st? Location: I wanted something outdoors, with shade, picnic tables, easy access via LRT, bike paths, and parking for #AutoWa users. I'm thinking a bring-you-own picnic type event, so I'm suggesting the two parks in the poll. Please vote for both if you are fine with either. RE: https://mastodon.social/@WTL/116465483466839257 I'll be boosting this roughly twice a day until the poll ends to maximize the number of #Ottawa folks that see this. Would appreciate other people in town to do the same, please and thank you.

Sunday #Workout: 14.5 KM of #Cycling with @TAV(12°C, 44% humidity, and 10 KM/H wind). Nice ride around town before brunch this morning. Ottawa river is still overflowing its banks in many places, and should be going back down soon, if the rain holds off.

Wednesday #Workout: 11 minutes of yoga for runners. 31 minutes of slow flow yoga. 7.1 KM of #Walking (4°C, 57% humidity, and 10 KM/H wind). That second round of yoga convinced me Jessica is trying to kill me with yoga. At least I got a nice enough walk out of the morning and some groceries along the way (getting a weighted carry in). We're at that part of spring where everything is suddenly turning green quickly. It's really cool to see it happening a bit at a time each day.

While out wandering this morning I was listening to Piya Chattopadhyay and Ada Limón talking about poetry; https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-57-the-sunday-magazine/clip/16209583-a-poets-guide-navigating-chaotic-times Then, passing some trees, this pops into my head, nearly all at once: Pine trees. So many pine trees. Wind rolls across the lake, whispering the ancient secret. Standing perfectly still, breathing the forest air, straining your ears until you learn the secret; Happiness is...

One thing that I really enjoy about @ByMUG meetings is how they can get derailed some times. We spent at least half an hour discussing @notjustbikes's videos and cycling/rail infrastructure - this came out of talking about Apple Maps features … so I guess it was on-topic … sort of. 🤣

Friday #Workout: 222 seconds of plank. 22 minutes of yoga for runners. 30 minutes of strength training. 25.4 KM of #Cycling (light rain, 5°C, 93% humidity, and 8 KM/H wind). Plank felt harder than usual. Strength was rough too, but it was a lot of heavy weight moving. Ride was pretty good, even if it was cool and raining.

Saturday #Workout: 33.3 KM of #Cycling then a quick shower and 12.3 KM of #Cycling with @TAV Came across @jessrawk and her pup while out on the first ride. And biked with TAV to brunch at friends and back. So hot out. Can we please go back to winter? 🤣

Sunday #Workout: 4.4 KM of #Walking (7°C, 85% humidity, with a 25 KM/H wind). Morning of reading, a lovely walk with @TAV, brunch and then I binge-watched all of the Chernobyl series with a friend who hadn't seen it (possible new tradition), as the disaster comes up on its 40th anniversary this month.

I'm excited about the #Artemis 2 mission, and also remind myself how much less ambitious of a mission it is than Apollo 8 was; closest approach of Artemis will be ~6500 KM (further than mainland USA is wide) as it flies by. Apollo 8 orbited the moon ten times at an altitude of around 120 KM. Yes, four people instead of three, plus a bunch of extra science. Hopefully, it's the start of something cool.
