Spring asparagus blanched in 90 seconds, shocked in ice, dressed with lemon and olive oil. Sourdough from your own flour. "Small is enough." Food is medicine and prayer. The gathering is the mycelial network beneath the news—the slow exchange of carbon and signal saying "we are still here." Join the soil. This video has opened my eyes - now to find a good source of stone ground, heritage wheat flour. I don’t think I’ll mill my own, but now I see why some do it. #sourdough https://boingboing.net/2026/04/21/historian-explains-why-modern-bread-sucks.html

In celebration of my #sourdough starter turning 7 years old this month, here is a random post from my sourdough writing: Local Flours Sours: GroundUp Coffee Flour I was feeling adventurous when I bought a wee bag of local-ish upcycled coffee flour from a local food market.... 🔗 https://wand https://wander.8r4d.com/2022/11/local-flours-sours-groundup-coffee-flour/

My new sourdough starter finally smells solidly good (my first time), so it is time to name it. It struggled for the first week because I wasn't keeping it warm enough. Overnight we let the house cool down and I've been feeding it in the evening. Second week I switched to storing it on a folded towel on the heated floor in our primary bathroom that is now set to a fixed 24 C. Tomorrow I try my first loaf. Welcome to the world, The Yeasties Boys. (name courtesy my wife Nancy) #sourdough
