The last mat is installed. Now I can proceed with sealing the hatch, redoing the electrics, installing a new ventilator and a dozen small jobs. Also have to sand and paint the bottom, wash, polish the freeboards and wax them. And so on. Remember, #sailing is fun.

Today the hatch got installed. Used butyl rubber (automotive). Easier when you want to redo it, and it also has some resealing capabilities. It never shears like e.g. a polyurethane sealant. I think I like the brutal neo-industrial look of the nuts so I'll leave the trim for now. It passed the few first liters of soapy water test so that's good. #sailing

Also testfitted The Throne. Drilled some holes, removed distance material around the holes and filled the cavity with some thickened epoxy. When it's cured I can redrill the holes. I have a slight issue with the forward inboard bolt. It protrudes in a 45⁰ sloped part on the inside of the console. I'll probably have to make a small slanted piece of teak with a hole in it and add some epoxy when I dry install it the first time so the nut has a nice flat surface to tighten on to. I was afraid that there wouldn't be space for a nut on the outboard forward bolt, but that was ok although quite fiddly to get the washer and nut on blindly. #sailing

The boom joint needed some TLC. The pin has worn a large hole in the fitting and I started to get worried last summer. Did a quick fix then by tying a line around the pin to keep it forward. Now I got to it and bored the hole just a bit, and glued bushings in the holes. Bronze upper, some other material with a ptfe coating in the lower. #sailing

The water fill and especially the air vent was in the wrong place. The hoses made a dip to clear the closet opening causing an air lock from time to time. When I had to take the interior out anyways I decided to fix this too. Some glorious sanding was required.
I sanded the gelcoat through in one spot. Will have to apply more layers at a later date. Yes, gelcoat and topcoat on epoxy. Works fine. #sailing

Today's job was rebuilding and installing the deck organisers. I had previously used a 35 mm holesaw to remove the distance material (or rather polyester putty). Now i used 30 mm washers with epoxy lightweight putty and tightened them. Then I hid the holes with moar putty. Also cleaned, inspected, resealed (butyl rubber is my go-to sealant now) and reinstalled the chainplates.

I returned last night from a wonderful trip to the British Virgin Islands. Spent a week on a sailboat, sailing to four islands, and snorkeling and scuba diving off of two of them. The weather cooperated nicely and I thoroughly enjoyed the warm clear water!! More pics to come! #sailing #ocean #scuba

To quote Mads on Sail Life; after some glorious sanding and a bit of thickened epoxy, tabbing was done. The laminate is really stiff and light, 10 mm of reused PET bottles as core material. Epoxy. #sailing

Some more holes made for different hoses. Lifted the throne in place to check hose clearances.
Cut new holes for the 1 1/2"/38 mm ID hoses, larger 64 mm this time so pulling them won't be the same pain as before. Also re-routed to go through the console. Also did new holes for flushing water in the main bulkhead (I have a separate freshwater bladder for flushing water, Swiss surplus from varusteleka). Will have to get a few 90⁰ bends to make it neat.
First layer of paint applied, epoxy which will be followed by Hempel's onepack enamel. Would like white, but pearly white will be good.
Will be followed by insulation and natural white vinyl.

The main bulkhead turned out ok after three rounds of oh glorious sanding, acetone wipe, oxalic acid wiped off with water, and teak oil. I was thinking about painting the bulkhead, but I got the dark spots fixed so I'm satisfied. #sailing
