#throwbackthursday Reflections on the five-year anniversary of my first trip to #Alaska ! A thread Five years ago today, I hopped off a plane in #Juneau , Alaska, and started to rediscover a part of myself I had long forgotten. Back in July of 2021, I was a fresh-faced 26-year-old flying nearly 4,000 miles across the continent to visit my long-distance boyfriend for the first time. #ThreeGoodThings

  1. Even though the dried split peas were old, I still managed to make a delicious split pea and ham soup. Added some potatoes and carrots to bulk it out.

  2. I caught up with a friend today. She's one of the ones where you don't talk all the time, but when you get together, it's like you've never been apart. She made me lunch, and I picked her mandarin tree (I am at least 30cm taller than her + whatever extra height I gain on a step ladder). The mandarins are so good.

  3. I already have plans for meals next week. Eggplant curry, and pasta. Two separate meals. I love it when ingredients just come together themselves.
