@ancientsounds@mastodonapp.uk Two of the major forces that have led to Guy Fawkes Night being smeared out into #GuyFawkesFortnight are (a) Diwali, and (b) the desire to have family friendly celebrations, and the accommodation to the working week, that leads to people scheduling things for the nearest weekend rather than on the exact day itself. Looking at all of these events, it seems to me that (b) is also making #MayDay become 1st of May Week. #CoventryCharterhouse has celebrated as late as the 6th in years past, according to what I can find. @sueW@mastodonapp.uk @ColesStreetPothole@weatherishappening.network I can imagine myself, not having been forewarned thanks to @wild1145@mastodonapp.uk, seeing that all of the green baskets had been claimed, not caring about the colour, being a little contrarian, and picking one of the huge pile of red baskets that everyone seemed to be avoiding for some unknown reason. That said, if I go to Fosse Park, it is almost never for Asda. Sainsbriz or M&S, more usually. *That* said, I'm *now* half tempted to run an experiment to see whether it changes my Asda shopping experience in any way. I predict no effect whatsoever, except perhaps some disapproving stares and a comment by the checkout person that I was only the second person with a red basket today.
